i just bought my first cafe last week, a 76 xs500. i bought it for 350 bucks and tore it down over the weekend. i have an idea of where im heading, but ill just play it by ear.

started chopping today, i removed the lover half of the upper triples handle bar mount. im going to run clip ons so no need for these. im going to leave the threaded holes for now, im not sure if i will need a mounting location on the trees and these may work great.

ill keep this thread up to date during the build with plenty of pictures and hopefully process.

im always down for input and criticism. let me know what you think.

how i bought her:

Got a link to my build thread in my sig. Good to see another Yammy 500 on here!

thanks, its always good to take a look at other xs500 builds to see what others have done.

two-smoker and saywhat, bikes look good.

would either of you guys have the pdf of a service manual? im trying to find one so i know what im missing and where things went. the bike wasnt complete when i bought it so that would really help.

here is an update:

passenger peg mounts GONE. it really cleans up the frame. now i have a nice clean area for my rear set mounts.

I've got the pdf, but it's stored on my phone, so I can't send it. I did the same thing with my frame, obviously, and cut off the rear section, too.
