I got bit by the Cafe Bug and I'm a huge project guy. This thread details the project
1) Dis-assembly
2) Cleaning and Painting
3) Reassembly and Fine-tuning
I purchased the bike for 800$ (850 with delivery) on 11/4/12 and have been hacking away at it ever since.
Haha, yeah my undergraduate major was chemistry, although i have yet to break bad... gotta finish this bike first. I put up that table to protect my landlord's stuff. In Amherst, MA. Actually I'm stripping the paint off the tank now, more pics to come soon.
Looking at some paint designs for the tank... i'm leaning towards the red...
In case any one is interested, this was the first time i used a graphic design software. I learned and created this design mockup with "Paint.net" in about 1.5 hrs... the basics were very intuitive!
These are fantastic!!!!!! IMHO red is the way to go.
Are you going to clear coat over decals or actually paint the wings?
If you are going decals, would you PM me if you are willing to make me a pair?
Keep up the good work!!!
BTW I live in MA also.

I am still trying to figure out that out myself! If i decide to go for the decals I'll definitely get in touch with ya prior to the order. I'm slowly realizing I need to rebuild the bike and iron out all the kinks... de-tab what do don't need... re-tab what i got a little carried away with... especially fab the seat... all prior to sending this bike to paint. I'm getting my PhD now, so time is kinda tight... but i hope it's on the road before another one of these Massachusetts winters... Long story short, don't hold your breath on those decals, haha.
Keep in mind the Slide Off Water Decals. They are thinner and will look, IMHO, better once clear coated.
Good luck with your PhD. I am married to an MD so I know how much you have to go thru your PhD.
Stay in touch!!! I will PM you a picture of one of my CRs.
