Hello Everyone, I am going to try to build a tracker that I can drive in the city and then take her out into the mountains in fields and trails and such. I am staring with a 1977 KZ200. here are a few pics of when i got her and after a quick tear down
And here she is after a shaving and paint job, I am going to paint the upper and lower bridge gloss black, The rims only needed a good cleaning. I am going to get some new rubber soon, oh ya the forks have been painted white also...
Does any one have a wiring diagram for this model. 77-78 Kawasaki KZ200 I have looked through the electrical section already and there is not many Kawasaki 200's, thanks
So I cleaned up the rims and they look alright, I am going to change both tires. same tread and same sizes. I might just clear coat the tank just as i got it. ANY THOUGHTS????
Im going to keep the factory seat bar and make a seat around 1 1/2" to 2" thick, I figure it will be useful to strap some camping gear to the seat. Here are a few inspiration pics.
After a day of scraping, scrubbing and washing with degreaser I finally got the engine cleaned and re installed. Now to figure out the wiring and make a list of all the electrical parts missing. Oh ya I clear coated the gas tank exactally how I got it.(half sanded,dents and dings) I love it gives it character.

My brother tried to talk me into the same thing with my tank, but I love blacking everything out. That faded blue tank with the white frame and polished motor look awesome together! If I didn't have to rebuild the top end of my motor, I'd challenge you to a friendly competition to see who gets their KZ200 finished first. Although, sorting out wiring problems can be even more challenging than motor stuff.

All I have in my head is the honda wiring from the cm 400 and i havent touched any kawi wiring before.
And a friendly competition never hurt anyone..

So, I pulled out the bag of wiring I got with the bike. After half hour of removing sticky tape and figuring out where everything went, it didnt look to bad. I think I am missing the coil and a few wires to the starter relay.
Thanks, I was going trough some of my parts and I found a set of handle bars, that if I mount them a little differently I gain another rack for the bike, where I can mount a tent, rifle or equipment for out on the trail. I still have to clean them up and paint them white to match the frame. And get rid of the brake levers. Who knows.
I was going to try to reuse the factory seat pan, I stripped the cover off to find the original cover shredded, and the foam looked horrible, Dug a little deeper and the pan was rusted beyond repair. Im going to use some aluminum to make a custom Pan where i can hide all the electronic components.
I'm working on a custom paddle shifter so the rear brakes will be the only foot control. Just finishing up a good drawing that I can work from. Will post a design pic later.
