Here's a link to the work I did today on the GS:

I've had the dirty bastard torn down for a couple months now and I've been pecking away bit by bit. I was soda blasting engine pieces, but it's been too dern cold to work out in the garage, so I've retreated to my slightly warmer back porch where I've been chopping the frame.

I used a trailer fender for the rear fender. I cut it to match the original plastic fender and mounted it using the original mounts. I plan on mounting it also to a cross bar underneath the seat pan. I'm not sure how I'm going to finish the fender beyong the seat, however I might use it to mount my brake light/license plate. I figure I can also mount some of the electrical components to this if I decide to go that route.

I originally bought a seat pan from DCC, however it was made more to the specs of a CB than a GS, so I bought an $18 piece of 1/8 aluminum and bent and cut it myself. In hindsight, this was SOOOO much cheaper, and easier. I mounted a small catch on the back of the seat pan to wrap around the rear loop, and I plan on mounting two cross bars under the seat which I'll use to connect the seat.

Right now it's all taped roughly in place, a buddy is going to help me do the welding some time this month.

There's much more to do, and I'm sure I'll have some questions down the road. (ie. rigging an electric spedo/tach)

Enjoy and ask away.
