K8 The Project , My Youth Revisited !
Howdy
Very fortunate to have found this mint K8 with 26k in completly stock condition in Feb. o8. I owned two of these back in the day, both right off the show room floor. With this one I want to try and re-create the bike I built back in the early 80's, sort of cafe/drag hybrid , we'll see , I am catching major grief from others about modifying this classic, but its mine and I can do what I want. Although it can be returned to original as I'm keeping all the parts and not cutting off tabs !
Im getting lots of great ideas from these SMF Forums , and cant believe the interest in these vintage machines, a big help! There is something about these bikes that gets in your blood , over the years I've had many other "late models" and went the HD route for a bit but when I saw this 30 yr old I new I had to have it, And I paid dearly for it !
Thanks for Looking , any ideas ?
George

Man that bike is MINT!

Do you have a pic of the bike you had back in the 80's?

Hey Thanks, when I bought this bike it was definatly the kind of find we dream about : Kept indoors, all original , wind shield , luggage rack , perfect because that condition told me it was probably ridden by a senior and its performance limits had not been touched , 26 k miles, far as I can tell never been down , no dents or scratches.
Now it has Dyna ignition , 3 ohm coils , redwing shocks , Mac 4-1 , pods which may come off typical carb problems created by them, I'm running 120 mains , 1/4 to WOT is fine but boggy off line .new Dunlops and other stuff, much more coming, Paint , plating detailing , Marauder rear fender which I have , just havent been creative enough yet to modify and install. My original bike had a Ness style fender with the kick up tail but no luck finding Ness or Russ Collins stuff.
I wish I had pics of the old one, I've asked my family to go through old albums Maybe!
