78' CB-750 Build *first timer*

Hey guys, this is my first bike build so I'm a little excited. Have done a bit of work on cars, so not totally noob, but never had a carburetor to work on / tune, so this should be fun.

Little background first, I've always like motorcycles but never really found one that fits my style. The Harleys are all overdone, the sportbikes are pretty ugly and the enduros just look a little weird. Came across a Triumph thruxton and pretty much fell in love. It wasnt super chrome, wasn't full of plastic, and I could see myself on one. After a while I figured it was out of my price range for a first bike and started looking into the custom areas and fell in love with the cafe style bikes (via pipeburn). Really liked the way the CBs looked, and then saw these two bikes:

.
After that, I knew what I was going to build.

Shopped around craigslist for a while and ended up finding a guy selling this for $600 :

Was told it needed work (and it looks a little worse in person), but overall the bike is in pretty good shape. There is a slight bend on the fork, but it rode and ran (although it kinda leaked oil pretty bad). Bought the thing anyway and joined this site.

Anyway, you guys are probably tired of reading, so lets get started! Wish me luck.

BTW, engine is broken down to pistons as of now, but ran into a problem with the head (which I'm hoping someone will help me with).

Lots of pics coming later, currently at work.

Welcome. I have the same bike and was working on it this weekend. Good Luck!
