For now this bike is not going to get much for paint or powder coat. I am just going to focus on getting it ridable for the summer. I did get the swingarm, wheels, brakes and a few other small parts powder coated so I wouldnt have to remove bearings or bushings later.
Once I got everything off that needed to come off I cleaned the layers of baked on motor oil to find a hole in the case from the guy running the chain so loose that it was slapping against the motor resulting in a smal crack in the motor. I'm really hoping that the JB Weld will fix this.
Ultimate Pamco is installed, new updated fuse box is made and installed and new regulator is installed. Had I not made the rookie mistake of putting the carb slides in backwards this thing would have fired right up. Once I corrected the noob carb issue it fired right up! That pipe sounds awesome!
Seat is finished and bike is together. Finished for now so it can be ridden until snow flies, then it'll be torn down to the frame for powder coating and motor work.
You beautiful bastard! You make it look easy! Bought one of the rear fenders you recommended from eBay for my `78 CB750F. Tried to strip the 30 year paint on my engine today using 1 can of aircraft stripper but ended up just burning parts of my skin.
I finally said "screw it" after spending all weekend toying with it. Going to take it to the sandblaster and let them deal with it. Not worth the health hazard.
Go to a sign shop and have them make a decal for the letters. Let them know its to mask for painting and they will use a decal that will release. Paint them the letter color first, let cure, then apply the Honda decals and spray the background color. I then cleared them with semi-gloss to make them look like better than new!
Roland, I was hoping you could show how you mounted the fender? Did you use any existing holes or did you fabricate your own mounts? Also are you using LED lights or are those regular ol' bulbs. The mounts looked to be fabed up for the lights on the rear hoop. Was also checking out your '77 build and liked how you setup the rear fender, which I'd like to do the same on my '78 CB750F. Why didn't you set it up the same way? I think it looks cleaner.
