Was looking for magnet wire online to try my hand at rewinding this stator as a rewound one from rick's is 250(using mine as a core) any websites I should check out or any links to other how-to's. Or maybe one of you out there wants to do it? haha. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are multiple coils, not all are for charging system, some are for ignition charge.
You could probably measure wire diameter/thickness and Google for resistance info so you'll know how many turns to wind.
It's just coated copper wire

Yea two of the three coils on the stator are bad and the ignition or exciter coil on the stator is open so I'm not getting any spark. cdi and ignition coil on the frame are good. any link in the system I know to fix and the only one that's broken. I've read a lot of tutorials on rewinding and sounds easy enough. My understanding though is that the coating on the wire is high temp. oil resistant stuff. so no-go on the hobby wire at the craft store. and after that I need to coat it in epoxy of some kind and bake it......

It was an issue on the 78 model, the robots wound the low speed ignition generating coils too tight and they shorted out after a few heating/cooling cycles
It would run fine when started and hot, but, when you shut down, it wouldn't re-start
Honda re-called tens of thousands for new generators

I don't think the 80 models had same problem.
After 30 yrs though, it's possibly the same fault
