81 CX500 yes, it's true, I lied. Build #5

Thanks guys, these two bikes will stay as built but I have a gl and cb750 that are more long term projects and I will give superbike bars on the 750 as I have a broomstick bar on the gl already. Meanwhile back at the farm I got a bracket welded on the muffler and painted it semi gloss black, look better than the red? In case you notice the clamp it is from NAPA, it is stainless steel, blends in well with the chrome and allows muffler removal.

I got a tail light from Dime City Cycles. I wonder why after all these lights they can't get the hole centers correct.

I have had to redrill every licence plate bracket on my aftermarket tail lights in order to mount a tag.... thinking overseas the plates are different.

It would have been nice if it was left long so it could have been cut to size but being short is a pain..

It is not very cold in Spokane and we have been spared snow so we took the cx to the grocery store, yes the wife rode on the back and didn't whimper a bit. While we were sitting on the bike to leave a guy drove up in his VW van and commented that he saw us in the store and assumed we had ridden a couple of Vespas, what??

The bike looks great. Looks a little too small for you though...

Very nice build. We usually see people cut off that high seat bracket but your solution works very well. The tank looks awesome. I would plate the muffler.
Curious, what kind of dyno numbers can one get off that engine with pods and better exhaust flow?

The Vespa comment likely comes from the pudding basin helmet.

pods with the hbox normally results in a drop in horsepower on a cx even with re jetting to 90/120

that just restores some of the performance

this configuration is normally <42 rwhp

Coming up with that seat with retaining that bracket is ingenious. Never saw that before and didn't even think of that before slicing mine off. The shape of it is perfect too. Props for doing something different.

Also, is that the non-led version of the brake light off DCC? I'm looking to order the same one, but was wondering if it's bright enough.

I clicked on your pic to see more and the next pic on your photobucket account is on sunnbobb's "No Quarter" Wing... cool build wasn't it! ;)

The light looks good and is bright but the difference when the brake is applied needs improvement.

I am more than willing to share the seat pan pattern, just ask. Good one on the helmet, I thought it was due to all my grey hair..

Ah, ok. Thanks for the feedback. I'll just buy it, see how it is and maybe retrofit LEDs in it later if necessary. Still a good price for it.
