This seems like a lot for a bike like that, or am I missing something? I could buy that in Canada for non cafe for 800, spent another 1500 hundred and I'd be done. Using my own labour of course.

That's one thing I really enjoy about cafe racers and the hobby in general, it's still cheap to have something unique and cool.

Of course not! This is a way cool cafe racer!

I'm just messing with you, Jim. It's a clean ride and I hope you get what you're asking, but this possibly isn't the best venue for that kind of sale.

1500 CD? I'm doubting that. 800 bucks here wouldn't get you decent roller. I see more that 1500 US in parts on that bike easy. Not mention the paint and powdercoat work. Unless you are an experienced painter I doubt you could get that done for less than 800.00 in most city's. It's easy to say that 1500 after purchase would get you the same (and that's what we are talking here) but once you are into it most of us know that doesn't go far.

Thanks all for the yeh's and ney's. It was a serious labor of love. You would all be surprised to learn the high prices of the most insignificant parts.

Regardless, I did say I would accept offers and trades. Yes trades.

Not a nay-saying here mate, that's a lovely looking scoot for certain. Just wondering what performance mods were done is all. It looks like every piece was lovingly redone...AND a C-model to boot!

that's more or less the facts of the matter, the motorcycle market consists of a few different markets, and unfortunately it makes it almost impossible to turn a profit on a custom vintage bike without severely cutting corners:

Cruiser/touring crowd - buys bikes new with financing
Sport crowd - buys bikes new with financing
Used crowd - buys bikes used with or without financing, usually <3k cash or <5k financed budget
Vintage crowd (money) - buys only restored or non-restored but very good condition bikes with a track record of increasing value
Vintage crowd (no money) - buys old bikes to ride, does all work him/herself, <1000$ purchase budget

the market for vintage custom bikes is very very small because establishing value for financing is difficult to impossible, and unless someone is absolutely in love with the bike, it's hard for them to justify shelling out the cash

love the bike, stance, and paint.
keep it out there, once the warmer season comes back and people are looking again. some one some where will see it and say, I WANT THAT BIKE.
good on you for adding some value to you abilities, and work manship. most people just by pass it and only add the parts and cost of the bike, not the labour.
any way, i know how much these builds cost built acoulpe. i put 1200 inparts alone on my cb500 engine rebuild, and about 1500 plus in parts to put on the bike. not including the price for the bike, tires, and of course your build time.
think the dealers at least here are 80 to 100 dollars an hr. you do the math. at the end i sold the bike and got next to nothin i put into it.
BUT, i love this stuff and was getting a nother bike and it needed to go, :(
so good luck and hope you get what your looking for.
