Personally I wouldn't bother with the seat cowl, cafe's don't have to have a bump stop, and the less weight the better is the goal
It's refreshing to see a cafe without it actually...
Have you got a shot of the right side? I wanna see the side cover on that side as well as I'm still tempted to finish up what I abandoned and get some aluminium side covers on mine.
Nice work! To me it's more of a bobber-like bratstyle bike and i would def. keep it like that.
I'm doing my first build as well, and it's nice and motivating to see what can be acieved!
Good job!
She looks good! I actually think I might prefer the flat, brat-style seats. The cowls are just everywhere!
How do you like those shorty mufflers? I'm working on a GS450T and considering getting those. Are you running em as slip-ons? Are they mounted pretty much where the stock mufflers attached in the first place? I'm a little concerned about the mufflers hitting the frame/interfering with the center or side stands.
luv the brat-style. Yours looks good as is. I wouldn't worry too much about a bum stop. Personally, I have made at least a dozen different styles and shapes of "cafe seats" at the end of the day I ended up going brat. It is being upholstered as we speak. Anyway, bike looks great enjoy rideing
Thanks, guys for the compliments. She's been pretty fun to scoot about on, and it's a completely different feeling when people check the bike out on the road in admiration instead of disdain.

Here's a pic of the right side from another thread. The bolt pattern is slightly different, and the cover itself took a slightly different shape from the left side.

I love the shortys. I did run them as slip-ons with a clamp and exhaust wrap to make it a little more seamless. No issues with the frame. The center/side stands do rest on the muffler, but whenever I let it off the stand I ease it up so it doesnt slam into it. The one major issue I had (as you may see in the above pic) was with my brake pedal. Once I put the mufflers on, the pedal didn't have enough clearance to engage, so I had to cut and weld an extension onto it. That was a pain in the arse, but well worth it. It sounds fantastic!
Did you secure it elsewhere on the frame? It looks like they come with those little tabs that will swivel around so you can secure the rear of the can to the frame for stability.

My brake pedal has been bent to hell and back anyway. Somewhere in the beginnings of time my bike was dropped on both sides, maybe several times
I'd be stoked to see a few closer pics of those mufflers, and to hear some video of it too! Have you gone camping on that thing? I'm waiting on some intake boot o-rings before I feel comfortable bringing mine out on the highway.
I agree, Pete. The more I looked at them, the more I realized that they look like something a 17 year old would put on his honda civic. I ordered a pair of amber lights.

Mounting was very simple. I used the original mounting position from the original exhaust and cut a piece of aluminum to use as a bracket. I'll try to snap some more close-ups this weekend.
Here's a vid I took when I first got her fired up. It was from a cold start, so it doesn't do it justice. But you get the gist.

And yes, we went on a camping trip last month, also have a thread for that.

Did you get the amber ones from DCC also? I'm doing the rear of my 750 very similar to what you did. I dig it.
Actually, I got the new ones on Amazon, which also didn't turn out to be amber, but red. I plan on replacing those when I have the funds because they just aren't visible enough. My advice... don't go cheap
