Been Around the Block
Working on rebuilding my buddies Virago 750 last night, and rebuilt the wiring harness.
When we tested for spark, #1 coil HAD spark, #2 didnt.
Thinking it was a bad coil, we switched the coils just to see, and #2 had spark and #1 didnt.
So the GREY wire coming out if the CDI was putting out sprak, BUT the ORANGE wire was not.
At this point I looked at the wiring diagram and saw that the Orange wire runs through the Tach unit, which leads to variuos different switches. So i though we were going to have to wire all that junk in. However, for the hell of it, we tested spark again, and BAM, both coils had spark.
Questions:
Do we NEED the tach unit hooked up? If so, how can you bypass it?
If we have spark on and off randomly, is that a sign of a bad CDI?
Thanks guys!
