82 Cb750 Carb Needle Removal

Insert sense of humor here---->
It's not my first full tear down of carbs. I also used the search engine here at DTT, and didn't find the answer I was sure I would find among the myriad of carb posts.

Here's what I'm working on. CB750F CV carbs from a known running bike. Fully torn down, dipped, cleaned, scrubbed coddled, sweetly cuddled, then installed on a motor with a fresh top end. This new motor and carb setup has been run successfully, and starts fairly easy without carb spray. Unifilter foam pods, aftermarket 4 into 1 exhaust with nominal baffling. Like I said, this baby runs... Just not perfectly.

I'm prepared to buy the new Dynojet kit for my carbys, but here's where I'm completely baffled.

To remove the needle jet, there is a plastic plug that fits in at the top of the inlet for the needle, where the needle seats into the slide. Under that plastic plug is what appears to be a slotted screw, or slotted and threaded plug that would hold the needle in place. I can see it on diagrams, but I'll be DAMNED if that freaking thing will NOT come out. In my world, this should be an easy piece to remove, so you can adjust/shim the needle correctly.

Is this a job for PB Blaster? Hell, I just wanna remove them so when the new needles arrive, I can deal with these buggers proper. I'm sitting around waiting for my upholstered seat to arrive, so I might as well get her running smooth.

Your thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks In Advance,

Geez, I thought for sure someone here had dealt with this before. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
