bobbing a virago and i am running the rear tire in front and am using the drum brake. has anyone done this and if so what cable did you use. i think a drum up front helps the look and cleans up the bars. im also gonna run a hand clutch/shift jockey.
anybody doing this.

I ran a rear tire on the front of a bike once. Wasn't good! The bike was really heavy to steer, and when it did turn, it wanted to drop.It was very twitchy too Some tires are designed for both front, and rear use, and you must follow the installation arrows. If the tire is not designed for front use, do not use it as such. That tire is not designed for the steering, braking, or straight line stability that a front tire needs. A rear only tire on the front, with the shifter you want could very well end up in road rash. Be careful

what kind of bike did you do this to? i really like the look having two 130/16 on it. i mocked the seat at 20 inches off the ground. im really
not out anything so im gonna have fun with it. i wonder if i put a steering stabilizer it would help handlebar flop that rear tire might cause.

viragotechforum.com might have the info your looking for. i ride a 85 xv700 and that site was a huge asset in getting my bike in running order. hope this helps.

Youre running the rear WHEEL up front? Theres def some issues. Wont be a bolt up deal. Spacing will be off, and the wheel is wider. Running wide front tires looks great, but does nothing good at all for the bikes handling. Its also heavier. And you need to weld a brake stay onto the forks. As far as the cable... Ist yours activated by a rod? If so, (sorry, dont know shit about Viragos) youll also need to fab a mount on the drum to hold the cable.

Killerdwarf and Von are right, Rear tires are designed for the Rear. The profile is different than a front. A quick eBayMotors search revealed at least a 1/2 dozen manufacturers out there that make 130/90-16 front tires. For safety sake, use one of them ;)

i will definitely look into the specific 130/16 for front. im a toolmaker by trade so making it fit wont be an issue. im gonna make a cable stay
and a radius rod mount on the forks. i also plan on smoothing out fork where caliper existed. anyone know a website to buy special length cables or should i just cut one and solder an end on it. i could make a fulcrum to mount to the fork to ease the pull on the drum brake. any thoughts?

someone on here makes a kit to run this... it is dope as hell! some awesome bobbed viragos out there

Yeah you need one of my rear-to-front conversion kits for this ... still keeps the look of a (non-functional) drum brake on the RHS.

PM or e-mail me if you're intersted ... I've had supplier problems over the summer and I had to find a new one, but kits should be ready to ship in early/mid Nov.
