'86 Interceptor 2 smoke project

Ya, I don't think I'm going to call it anything like that. I thought about using a bunch of stickers to adorn the tank with for right now. The more, the better ::) Here are the first things I would put on there. If anybody remembers these, they get 10 points ;D

Oh ya, that would be a sweet combination.
As far as the gas tank goes..... Yep, probably shouldn't have sold it. There are alot of them for sale, but most of them are not in that good of shape. Keep me posted if you think you are going to do the swap :)

Hell do the swap... you can always flip flop later.

Man if you have access to a TIG you need to start fabing a pipe for this monster... this one will suffice for the initial mockup, but if it pulls and rides nice, a pipe will be in order. I like this thing... a lot ??? that CR500 in a 80"s FZR600 chasis is churnin in my head again.

There is a guy on you tube who did a whole series on converting a cr250 to a street bike with inverted front forks, a cr500 engine and everything else to finish. i think its called cr 500 sportbike-project streetracer.

After 2 weeks of waiting, I found out that my top clamp is still not made. Actually, he didn't even start it. So now I have a big chunk of aluminum just waiting to be milled, except, I don't have anybody to do it. So I had to order some stock bars so I can get this thing going. I guess I'll have to look into making the clamp in the future. I do remember the stock setup being comfortable, so at least I have that going for me ;) Anyways, ordered some more parts. A throttle cable, tank cap, air filter, bars and a piece for the chain adjustment. I have been thinking about what I am going to do for a silencer. I don't really want to fork out $100 for one, so I may end up making one. Not sure yet, I'll have to look on the internet and see what others have done. That should be close to it. I should have a running bike by next week. Once it is running good and all the gremlins have been sorted, then I will work on wiring the bike and installing the lighting coil :D

It was a buddy of mine. He said he could do it quick, but I think he realized he had more work to do that would pay the bills. No biggie, I'll figure something out. I think I figured something out for the silencer, too. I'll post pics later.

I was having a buddy CNC a top clamp, but it never panned out. So, I got some stock bars in, and I have to say, I like them. I see from the picture that they are hard to see, but I assure you, they are there ;) Since I had a few minutes to spare, I put the clutch lever, the master/front brake lever and twist throttle in place also.
Earlier this week, I started building a silencer. It was built from a GT380 outside muffler and a inside muffler that I had sitting around for the last 2 years. I also installed a cleaned baffle, and may end up wrapping it in fiberglass once I hear how loud it is. In my head, it should all work. But if it doesn't, I'll look for something else ::)

Honda CR 500 would probably be the easiest to fit as they had various generators made for BAJA racing which would run 100W headlights
YZ490 didn't have any real issues (I quite liked them) but, 4 speed transmission was very limiting and air cooling makes it real noisy
If that's a DT400, it needs some work to make it worth fitting into frame
YZ400 is a bit 'underpowered at 'only' 40bhp (DT can d the same with a 34mm carb)

Yz400 engines and parts are readily available, and for good prices to boot. Underpowered? Hmm.... all investigation led me to believe that it is a loved motor. The yz 490 had lots of recalls for starting issues, if I remember correctly. I would imagine that somebody out there knows the tricks of the trade with them, but not me. I want something with a little more reliability. Hence, the 400 engine ;)
