a little inspiration for BC

I really like the look of that bike, but for me it needs a front fender. Other than that......great.

The noise from a big V twin is awesome, and the slender motor makes it a great basis for a cafe racer in my opinion. I had a TL1000s back in 97, and fitted some stubby Venom cans. The sound as I gassed it away from work, was described by my colleagues, as like a Harley on steroids, and the popping and banging and blue flames emitted from the pipes at 3k on the over-run were addictive.

I will have another one day.

I bought mine brand new in 97, after seeing my first one while on a car buying trip to the Sates. I saw it blatting up the freeway, and loved the tough look of it right away, so got one shortly after. They had a bad rep, as being a widow maker....throwing riders over the bars in a straight line etc, but that was rubbish, mine was fine, very well behaved. I think it was those that had no damper fitted that were troublesome. Mine was the S model, the R looked too chunky for me. I would recommend the bike....it was a bit quirky, wore out rear tyres very quickly, and drank fuel rather heavily, but sounded awesome, and popped vertical wheelies off the throttle readily. I was young and silly then. Problem was, a couple of my mates bought R1's, and I couldn't keep up, so the TL had to go. Nice machine though.

Thanx for that Surplus - there's an ugly rumour going round that I might have power / lights in my garage in the next 3 weeks, then I hope to see some real progress ! Should coincide with my wheels coming back from the builder [ Vindicator ] and the frames swingarms, etc. should be almost ready from the powder coaters.
