Acewell 2853 installation

I'm sorry to beat a horse if in fact it's dead, but I haven't been able to find an answer to this.

After installing my acewell gauge on an 81 cm400...what do I with my now useless and vestigial tachometer cable? Can I just yank it off, or will leaving that port open allow crud to get in there?

I would plug it. Crud will indeed get in there.
