Acewell gauge - anyone use one?

Giving some thought to one of these, but have read lots on erratic RPM readings. Anyone have one? Not sure if it will be too high-tech for my project, but it looks nice in the polished alloy body and is very functional and practical.

who cares if the RPM readings are off sometimes? all you need is your speedometer. i like that it has a fuel gauge on it too.

Well, it has a fuel gauge if you order that model and if your bike has a sending unit. Mine sure don't. My fuel gauge is a rapping of knuckles on the side of the tank and a well trained ear ;)

I was thinking of one of those too, i liked the indicator layout and everything with it...then i too thought a digital readout is a little high tech for a 60's looking bike...so i was thinking of going with this one from miksxs...

no tach, but i can add a matched one later if i want. I dont really look anyways. Still has the essential indicators, signals/neutral/high beam, and its small and classic looking. Plus its about 1/2 the price of the acewell...no tach, no clock, no run time/total time etc... but i thikn i like it.

Available in MPH or KPH...70 buck Canadian and free shipping.

The Acewells are, but not the gauges from Mikesxs - all obviously geared for the Yamaha. The Acewell has a pickup that ties into the ignition for counting RPM, and a magnet sensor that you put on your wheel for speed like a bike computer.

According to The Old Bke Barn...

Description:
All Japanese Motorcycles are equipped with speedometers of 2240 RPM= 60mph! This will work on all Japanese bikes with cable driven speedo! Universal on all Japanese Bikes - Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki. Great for Cafe Racer or Retro Projects.

Applications: Universal

They list a similar gauges as mikes xs. So i think the mikesxs gauge is also universal.

That's too farking convienient ::)... dang BMW's seem to have at LEAST two different speedos for every damn model they produced... one metric and one imperial... ALL the speedo ratios are different depending on tranny gearing, rear drive final gearing, rim & tire size, colour, altitude, attitude, whimsy, open or full face helmet... you get the idea

Well shoot - I'll have to strap on a Honda speedo to the Yami when I get it running to see what happens.

Yep, I'm using one on the GPz. It took me an afternoon to wire it in though. The speedo does seem to be pretty accurate but the tach dances a bit and mine is plugged into the harness where the factory tach plugged in. It's cheap enough and I've gotten used to it, but its not as good as factory instruments.

Does anyone know if the measurements that Acewell gives are correct? Dimensions Φ64mm / H40mm seem to be a little on the small side. This is only a 2 1/2 inch gauge? Has anyone tried fitting one in a bmw r51 headlight bucket? Just seams like alot of information packed into a 2.5 inch gauge is all.

If you pick up one of these, let us know how it works out. I was thinking of throwing one on my cb750 to get rid of the huge panel of idiot lights.
