Hey everyone, Im new to the site and could use some help with a few things. Ive got a 1974 CB360 Im going to be restoring. Im pretty good with a wrench and Im looking forward to this being my summer project!

Im looking for some aftermarket brake lever assemblies that I can still use to operate the brake light. I have seen plenty of assemblies but none that can still allow the brake light to come on. Let me know if there is a simple fix for this!

Thanks,
David

Rather than go for a true "aftermarket" brake lever, I went with simply a similar brake lever/Master cylinder off a more modern bike. In my case, I have an old CX500, but I put on the brake lever from a newer Honda sportbike that a guy wrecked.

Obviously there wasn't a lot of science in my method, but basically if you pick up an OEM brake assembly from some other Honda with the same bar size and MC diamater, you should get the switch functionality along with it in good form.

In the more DIY realm, you could mount a normally open microswitch on a little arm such that the brake lever touches it when you apply the brakes. Just make sure it can handle the wattage of the brake bulb circuit, and that it won't interfere with the actual brake operation.

Hope that helps.
