Aircraft style fuel door on Benelli tank

So I'm working on how I want my new cafe tank to look. I have a NOS Benelli tank. I'm thinking about putting on an aircraft style fuel door / cap such as:

Any feedback on how to do this properly? Bolt on versus weld on? Model of cap assemblies you've seen that work well? I've seen this and like their systems: http://www.newton-equipment.com/

It looks like it would be difficult to mount the cap with the contour of that tank but with some body work of course it can be done. As for mounting i would think a quality sealant like some PRC and some stainless hardware would be adequate since making a clean weld on it would be extremely difficult.

Thanks guys. Yeah that Saint Motorcompany fabbed some of their own parts, it appears.

I may contact him to see how he did it. Maybe farm it out to him to enable me to move forward on my rebuild's other components.

Looks like he welded in a flange for the bung to bolt to. you can get the same caps with a weld in bung instead of the bolt on one. Yes, bolt on looks cool. My buddy put two of the weld on ones on his: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=32683.0

I have the other NOS Benelli tank (125/250cc) and couldn't get a cap which i believe to be plastic anyways, so i welded one off another tank on it: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=32831.msg361868#msg361868

Good luck
