All turn signals flashing very fast ('72 CL350)

So I had to replace my brake bulb, and once I got in there I discovered what I can only assume was the original bulb. I have no idea how a bulb would work in the condition this ancient artifact was in. The new bulb worked great however.

Then I tried to use my turn signals. All lights work, and they all flash. The issue is that they all flash very quickly as though there is a bad bulb. Should I be looking for a bad ground, fuse or something else?

Extra information: Once or twice the main power fuse blew on me, and during a trip from Hamilton to Windsor (taking 403 @ 70 mph for about an hour) it went out three times until I almost ran out of fuses. Oddly enough, it no longer does this and was fine on the return trip.

I know I have an electrical problem, but any ideas on where I should look first?

Is it the same size bulb? Proper voltage? Are they working again because you burned out the brake light?

You have the wrong bulbs.

This is a very real possibility. I replaced the bulb with one that fit, but it was just one I had lying around from another application. Does anyone have the proper bulb number handy? I left all my books in Windsor.

Thanks!
