All year round Riders

New to Tdot and wanting to join the cafe racer scn
Hi I'm Timo and I'm new to TO. I ride all year round and was looking for the die hards on here who still meet during the off season in and around Toronto.

Well if you haven't experienced your first Toronto winter, you may rethink riding during it. The road salt will corrode your bike into a solid lump in short time. It's doable but only if the weather is dry and not too cold.

I used to ride all year in Toronto. My bike and the TTC were my only modes of transportation. If you have an old beater bike and you clean it well, just as you should your car, then they keep the roads fairly well plowed in T.O.

Dress warm! It'll put hair on yer chest!

REDS, we all use to ride year round. we were NUTS! i can remember riding thru a snow storm on xmas eve. why did i wait so long to get my car license. ha.

btw, i will also add that toronto traffic (downtown core) is making riding in the NICE weather, a pain in the ass.

I have ridden every month of the year once or twice in Toronto. We went for a New Years Day ride a few years back. But recent winters would simply not allow for it. Don't think I could get my bike out of my lane most days.

I found riding in -7c, all sorts of things would start snapping and breaking a lot easier. The cold just likes to find the weak spots on your bike! Then again, the look on other people's faces is always priceless when you're riding up to your favourite brunch spot on a sunny Sunday in the middle of January. :p

i can remember riding thru the winters in the 90s. one time whilst on my 1961 lambretta going up young st, i tried to 'lean/turn' my bike and it would only go STRAIGHT! i realized my cables had moisture all in them, which had frozen making it impossible to turn my bike.

this morning i debated on riding, and realized my truck was way more comfy. i might actually be too old for this shit now. ha!

Bike tires aren't made of a compound intended for cold temperatures. I quit the off season rides after discovering this flaw (the hard way) many years ago.
