Another SoCal rider down :(

Been Around the Block
My buddy T-Boned a Mercedes at nearly 60 yesterday.

Not sure what all happened yet (although my guess is that the Merc pulled out in front of him), he's fresh from surgery and in stable, but gnarly shape:

Compound break on a leg (now with pins), broken thumb (now with screws), elbow scratched to the bone, liver damage, and several lacerations.

He is a VERY experienced rider and I'm certain he had the appropriate safety gear. Please be careful as shit like this can happen to the best of us. His cousin and another mutual friend picked up his bike today (ZX-636) and even the cases are smashed beyond repair.

again, PLEASE be careful as riding season gets into gear, and lets all keep the shiny side up.

Sorry to hear that mate. At least he'll live though. It's good to remember that this could happen to any one of us...
Hope all turns out well.

Ugh - pass along our best wishes. I'm trying to think of the scenario where someone could pull out in front of someone in 60MPH traffic - where did this happen?

Cahuenga and Barham near Universal... It was a cross-traffic kind of thing. He only remembers flying over a car and waking up in the ambulance. He was definitely speeding as the limit there is 40 or 45, still don't know who is at fault yet since he can't remember anything. I think someones checking if there were cameras there.

here's some pics of the bike, he's lucky to be breathing. of course he's smiling now with all the drugs they put in him....

Aw heck, that's not so bad - looks better than most of Noel's bikes! ;)

All kidding aside - I'm glad he's lived to tell the tale. Whether 40 or 60, someone pulls right in front of you, that's it. Only difference would have been how much air time he would have gotten. Landing is just as hard.

man thats nuts. hope he heals up quick. im suprised to see the forks in good conditon?! at least the thing can be scrapped for some streetfighter parts

Sad story. Thanks for the reminder. :) These things happen in the "blink of an eye!"

Pass along our best wishes for a speedy recovery! :)
