Another "You Can Guess What Happens Next" Trail 90 Thread

Thanks, irk. I was just in my basement, putting together a jig:

Rudimentary, for sure. Would it be better to somehow incorporate the screw jack from my truck, rather than banging on it cave-man style? Or should I abandon this approach altogether? I don't have a good vice or press handy at the moment, but I could fix that.

Nice work fixing the swinger. That CT70 is a deal, probably the cheapest I've seen one listed.

I tried pounding out the dent in my tube. It just laughed at me. Hitting it as hard as required risks the hammer slipping off the notch-block and possibly doing some real damage, so I'll have to try again with a press or vice like irk says.

Not so much because I missed working on the swingarm, but more because I wanted an easy win, I decided to remove the bushings. With some heat and the bolt/socket trick, the inner sleeves and rubbers slid right out. It took a total of a couple minutes to do both sides. Easy win!

Then I spent a couple hours removing the outer sleeves. Not easy! Maybe I was too worried about nicking the swingarm, but after cutting the sleeves almost all the way through I still had a hell of a time hammering them out. It might have been due to a ring of rust on the edge of the sleeves, or maybe I'm a coward when it comes to working in close quarters with a hacksaw (like I am swinging a hammer in close proximity to my fork tube). I'm glad Nick had better luck!
