Antigravity 8-cell - What do I need to make this work?

Hey there!

So bought the anti-gravity 8-cell battery for my 1985 Honda Shadow. I'm not sure how the charging system would work now that I'm switching to a lithium ion battery vs the old acid battery. I dont know where to start but maybe if I could get pointed in the right direction, any help would be much appreciated.

My question is, now that i'm switching to the lithium ion, do I need to change anything else? i.e starter solenoid, rectifier regulator, stator, add any fuses?

I'm going from 16 amp hours to 9.7, and from the diagram shows there's a 30 amp fuse. Do I need to change that as well?

I've attached the wiring diagram for the bike.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thank you!

You shouldn't need to change anything.

You can go with a newer regulator/rectifier for a bit of peace of mind, but everything else should be fine.

Also, that Ah rating is pretty low for your bike. Make sure you bike doesn't have issues with starting; you're not going to get many tries at it.

Thanks for the feedback. I ordered a new reg/rec from Ricks.

Anything I could do to avoid potential starting issues with the Ah rating being low?

Make sure your bike (carbs, etc) is in a condition that it's easy to start. Your bike should be generating usable wattage at idle, but if you kill the battery you're going no where. There's not a lot of power in that batter for a bike of your size, so you're going to get a few tries to start it and that will be it.

A 12 or 16 cell battery would probably be better decision.

On our website, we have an ETX18 which is a good bet, too.
