Any reason not to run solid mount rear pegs?

I am debating modifying the factory mounts or just threading these directly on. Below is a pic of the pegs threaded on. I'm running factory peg locations. This would be the rear pegs only, the fronts will still be on pivoting mounts. Any strong objections?

Typically riders footpegs used to be fixed in the rest of the world and passenger pegs were typically folding. Go back to the sixties and most bikes had solid pegs.

As long as they don't get in the way of anything - like a kickstarter, it shouldn't matter.

Then again solid mount pegs if solid enough save other more expensive parts when they act like sliders.

Listen to Swivel on this one. (Even though he's usually full of shit.) :D

There is a reason foot pegs fold, and why the fold at an angle towards the back. It's so that they are less likely to break your ankle.

Many a broken ankle has happened as a result of the rigid foot pegs common on minibikes from the 70's.

All bikes in the US changed to folding pegs back in the sixties/seventies but not so in the rest of the world. Do US riders break more ankles or do other countries have better healthcare? More safety legislation in the US than other countries? I have no idea why the difference, but it's interesting.

All our race bikes have solid pegs and I think that's the rules. For the street, I guess it's your choice.

Personally, if I have a bike leaned over far enough for the peg to touch the pavement, I want it to pivot up a little rather than levering my tires off of the pavement.

Just nobody post any pics of guys with their lower legs hacked off ok?

Folding pegs FTW.

If I have a bike over so far the peg touches the pavement, I either need to change their position - or I fell off.....

I succumbed to the fear mongering and visions of severed feet and mutilated ankles, and modified the stock mounts so that the new pegs will fit and fold up.

The pegs are two piece R6 pegs sold by LuckyBike on Amazon. I looked high and low for some simple knurled black footpegs, and found them on Amazon, of all places. They are only $20 for a pair. Cheap enough that I thought I'd see if they could be made to fit. The quality is high, but I don't know how well the anodizing will hold up over time. The pegs themselves are female mount, threaded for a M12x1.25 stud.

Whether or not those particular pegs get relocated, when it happened, I was VERY happy that they weren't rigid. They may have been hauling my carcass out of a ravine on "The Snake."

Jes sayin'.

It's simple. If your pegs drag they are too low. End of story. And if people ride hard enough on the street to drag parts they are riding too hard for the circumstances.

I'm no hero. I just used to road race for fun and if something touched, it got moved. I'm not one of those fast guys on the street with parts dragging on the deck. Gave that up as a kid.

ADC, I understand the point that IF it drags it's safer that it bends/lifts. I'd rather encourage people to set their bikes up properly.
