I'm considering it for some engine parts on my CB750. Has anybody ever had it done? I'm thinking it might be a good way to keep the parts looking good and be durable/long lasting.
I have coated some powder chromed parts and it does all right , although with heat cycling on engine parts I wouldn't reccommend because it will dull really quick. Hope that helps.

If you're going to do the exhaust flanges or headers, get them ceramic coated. Pretty much anything else can be powder coated - even engine parts. Relatively, they don't get that hot. BUT, you'll pay for the coating on the engine parts, mostly because of the prep/masking labor.
I "chromexed" my headers. Thats what they call the chrome ceramic at Performance Coatings and didn't care for it. It resembles more of a dull polished aluminum? Best way to describe it. I also did a CB750 cam cover and it looked alright.
Here's a couple of my motor with ceramic-coat. I opted for flat silver. But the amount of adherence that you get from this stuff is awesome.
As far as fading on the chrome finish I'm not sure. But It can't be more dull than what I have and on motor parts I think you would be fine.
Now if your talking headers I'd want more sheen.
Joe, JRK5892 did a tank in the chrome powder for a members bike, It was close to chrome but not exact. XS750 tank I believe. It was a lot of work to get it prepped and looking that good if I remember correctly. PM him and he should have pics and can tell you the pros and cons I am sure.
I got some samples of the chrome powder coat... it looks ok, but not like chrome at all, not even like polished aluminum... maybe sanded aluminum (1000 grit).
When I originally thought of doing my engine side covers like this, I pictured it looking like chrome. I think I'm leaning more towards polishing them now. Maybe chrome dipping them depending on price
