Anyone have Mikuni 32's on their CL350?

Anyone have Mikuni 32's on their CL350? Trying to get mine dialed in with jets and such, was hoping to get some feedback from someone with the same setup.

Mikuni VM32s are WAAAAY too big for a CL350. Unfortunatly you'll never really get them dialed in.

Best bet is to sell them, and pick up a set of VM28s.

Sorry...

well on a street bike yes....
maybe this is a fully built race engine? but me thinks not.

even 30s are to big
whats wrong with stock carbs? hell they have a ton of potential

The OP that built the bike fitted 32's and never could get it to run right. Gomoto bought it and is trying to get the fool thing to run.

Anyone fitted 28's on a CB350? On a CL I figure they would work - 24mm was stock as I recall on that model.

the bike is a CL350. Bike was modified a bit - coupled with the fact that this is pretty new material for me - and just got the papers for it. I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but wanted to update.

Does this change anything?

Ya, for VM32s to be even remotely feasable, that engine has to be a full on race lump. And even then theyre kind of too big for it.

SL350 were 26 or 28 round slides for a few years

CL and CB share almost anything

pods and cut exhausts don't really count that much as far as mods go....you should re jet but definitely don't need bigger carbs

So, in theory. My bike won't run very well because it has carbs that are way to large - meaning the bike is getting way too much gas that it can't eat fast enough?

i don't really have an idea about carbs and how they work and all that, but could someone try to explain to me why you're saying 32mm would be far too big for a cl350? my sr250 has a 34mm mikuni (i believe it's stock)... why is a 34mm alright on the sr250, and not far too big or whatever?
(sorry if this is leading the topic away from the original question asked, but i'd just like to know :D )

With carb that's too big, gas velocity through the carb is low and it can't pick up fuel properly. The fuel it does pick up tends to not atomize and burn well, so it runs badly.

A crab that's way too small has none of those problems and has high gas velocity and a strong "signal" so it's easy to jet and works cleanly. It may lose out a little at very high revs. The right size has neither set of problems.

Stock Cl had the same carbs as the CB IIRC and the SL had 24mm slide carbs.

As Mr. Von Y mentioned, SR250 is a single and that carb is a CV style. Typical 34mm CV flows similar to a 28mm slide carb. 40mm CV carb on later GT750 triples flow more or less the same as 32mm VM style carbs on earlier bikes.

what other mods have been done to the engine? In my (somewhat limited) experience, a bigger carb (to a point) will provide a hp gain at the top end at the expense of the low and mid range. As Teazer stated, it wont have enough of a "signal" unless running at WOT with radical cam, intake and exhaust mods. Even then, do you want to be riding like this all the time? Most likely not. When you have trouble pulling away from every traffic light, you might question the point. Honda, as well as other MC companies, have done a lot of research and development on determining the optimal carb size for street riding

I'll throw them up on ebay, with no reserve. what do you recon their estimated value? They are new and clean.

I bet somebody here would like to purchase them.......or even trade for other parts that you may need. Hint, hint......

I would love to trade for your carbs. I have a complete set of 350 carbs and a set of 360 carbs (32mm with butterflies). Anything else you need for your bike? I have 2 350s complete and 3 dismantled.
I'll pay for shipping of course.

You mentioned that they are brand new with basically zero miles but they have had fuel through them. New they sell for around 100 each so slightly used I figure 175 or 150 plus shipping. They are a better match for a CB450 or CB500T.

I listed them in the sale section here if anyone is interested. I feel for a good price 150 free shipp. I also would be open to a trade for VM 28's, but since that's where the money is going anyway wanted to trade carbs for carbs or get the cake so I can buy em from dime city. Thanks all for the help with troubleshooting my carbs especially teazer - who was a very big help and obviously know's a thing or two about the topic.

Thanks. Do you have a set of stock carbs in good condition? If so I'd clean them and use them PJ is the expert on Keihin CV carbs and how to jet them on a 360 and probably for a 350 too.

That's a great price for new carbs.
