Not a swap meet, but there's a decent salvage yard in Tacoma called Chrome Spoke -- or at least there was 10 years ago or so. Might try to look it up. In Lynnwood, north of Seattle, there is a decent salvage yard called Bent Bike. They're still around for sure, prices are usually reasonable.

Chrome Spoke is long gone. Has been for a LONG time, pretty sure Bent ended up with their inventory.

If you are in the Tacoma area, the Auburn location of Bent Bike used to be alright. Then the trailers of N.O.S. 1970s custom parts, engines, tires and such vanished. Haven't been in there in years. PM Kopcicle, he knows me from when I worked there and he worked at another shop a couple blocks away. He can fill you in on dealing with Bent in the present day. I haven't been in there since 2009 or 2010.

Reasonable prices at Bent Bike? Since when? Great selection, lousy prices, worse customer service...

AH... maybe it's been more like 20 years since I went to Chrome Spoke...

As to the Bent Bike in Lynnwood -- I'm with you on customer service, most of the time. They can be cranky. But they've also been helpful. I go in knowing what I am looking for and where it is, I dig through the bins myself, so my interactions are usually confined to the cash register. I found a Cb400F brake lever in nice shape and they charged me $20 or so. That seemed like a good deal to me at the time. Haven't really bought tune up stuff from them so I don't know what their prices are on new stuff like points/condensers, batteries, plugs.

Market rate on everything except batteries. Batteries can be lower or higher, depends on what you need. And really watch what you get, I'm a 1972 vintage, and Auburn had new batteries in stock older than me when I worked there. Mostly oddball 6v stuff, but still, 40+ year old batteries, with a zero return/exchange policy, always seemed kinda "off" to me. But, where else are you going to get a 1940s Indian Chief spec battery, same day? We had them...

Shop wisely... and if the Emgo brake package you want is yellow, walk away. Asbestos and/or imminent glue failure. Those brakes were packaged in the 1970s and/or early 80s. You can buy the riveted lining replacements, just wear gloves, they are from the 60s and older, regardless of manufacturer.

Where abouts EXACTLY are you? I'm Puyallup born, went to Bethel schools K-8, family lives in Loveland/Elk Plain area by Bethel High School. Bellarmine grad (1991) in Tacoma, moved back to the Memphis TN area from Buckley in early 2011...

Know the Tacoma area pretty tolerably. I even worked at NW Motorcycle and Apparel in Fife for awhile... and have lifetime bans from "Desecration Harley Davidson", RMC, Meridian Auto Wrecking, the old Seattle International Raceway...
