The three year goal is to retrace Robert Pirsig's (Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance) trip he did on his '64 SuperHawk back in 1968. Hopefully that plan will become a reality!
Hi Vince, great ride, noticed your reference to Pirsig's classic book and your interest in doing the same route, thought you might like to know about a book
that is a follow up of sorts written by Mark Richardson, a journalist living in Toronto. His tale is a retelling and interpretation of the Pirsig saga, with cool background info on Pirsig his family and the other people named in the orginal, interviews and such. The book is called Zen and Now- On the Trail of Robert Pirsig and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (mouthful for sure). I am reading it right now actually and enjoying it, brings the original back to life in a new way, not as philosophical though so far, but Pirsig was a genius interested more in the nature of experience than motorcycles so I am not surprised. The book Zen and Now was recently published (says 2008 on the jacket here). Oh and it also has a sweet picture of a Hawk on the cover. Mangonotforget.
