almost there now. still the rear subrame to fabricate in ali. oil cooler hose etc.
but looking good.
frame deign is ours. using one of our own modified wide line frames.
rear suspension. cbr600 with owner designed geometry.
fuel tank and seat unit by our good friend terry baker. who designed the underneath of the tank to compensate for the lost airbox. this being and injection engine.
putting out 142 bhp

the owner fabbed the exhaust system. and i'm a little confused by the routing of that pipe. as there is room between engine and frame tube for it.. yes there is still the oil cooler to put on. . i have a meeting with him today. so maybe there will be a revision

This is the most beautiful collaboration of mechanics I have ever laid eyes on. I want one! I don’t know what else to say! Absolutely amazing!

Coming along very nicely. It's looking to be the best interpretation of a modern cafe racer that I've seen! Keep us updated dude!
Is that the seat that was on it when you first posted pics of it? I can't remember...

the pics are deciving. that pipe won't touch down first. also the spoiler/oil tank will be there, so attention will not be drawn to it. ;)
that is not the seat unit that was on it for the earlier pics. this one is all ali. the previous one was a grp base with an ali hump.
the present one is more delicate. and care has to be taken that it does not facture at the front of the hump where the sear pan starts , something the grp one does not.
even with the airbox mods the tank still holds 4 uk gallons. only lost 1 gallon

lol
thats not me on the bike. thats the customer
we made the frame etc. our local tank maker made the heavily modified 5 gallon manx tank and seat unit.
a total of one gallon capacity was lost from the tank due to the mods needed underneath it.

the bike has been back with it's owner for a while. but i have asked him for some updated pics.
regards

That is interesting, originally, people put Triumph engines into Manx frames so they could have better handling than the chassis the engine was originally in.

Now, you are putting an engine into a Manx frame and you will have worse handling than the Aprilia had new, all for nothing noble, aesthetics, trendiness, etc.

It also will be much less safe and reliable than the stock Aprilia, be ready for the frame to break....

norton guy.
i agree with some of what you say.

i agree that the best frame for that engine was the one it came in originally.
the wideline has long unsupported areas

be ready for the frame to break?. an iteresting statement! Based on what exactly?????

this is not the first frame in the 45 years we have been making frames that engines other than brit twins and singles have found homes in them.

this is an odd forum for you to be on isn't it?

there are bikes on here that have clip on style handle bars. which by design take away some ease of control plus your visibility is reduced as your head is lower.

aluminium tanks which have sticky up caps, very nasty for the meat and two veg those can be in an accident.

pressed steel frames used on bikes which are then fitted with 21st century front braking systems. that can be a bad combo.

so why are these foolish people doing these things?

could it be that they want something a little different something individual.

Do you also frequent Harley Davidson forums and tell them that as standard thier bikes have poor frame geometry, and are badly underbraked?

you only see the results of weeks of work. You were not privy to weeks of going over drawings, stress analyist, discussions with the customer, prior to a tube being bent.

i'm sure on a race track a standard falco would show it nothing but it's ass end.

the desire on here and many forums like this one is to have something that they can call thiers, not something standard that when parked up in a bike park, were you have to go looking at the reg plate number to find yours.

everyone to thier own. like what they have built or hate it, respect the desire they have to be a little different.

and not come out with "prepare for the frame to break" in 45 years people have managed to bend our frames, but not break them. :)

Well said, drack, well said.

Personally I'd have used some spicier language, but your reply was very nicely worded and drove home a better point than I would have made.

NortonGuy, you need to either pull your head in or be a bit more tactful with your posts. That aside, what d'you ride?

Cheers - boingk

One of these days, I hope to fabricate like Draken; he's the best. The bike is cool, but it's a bit anti-climatic without updated pics. Hopefully the new owner posts some soon.
