August 28th, 2010 - 1st Annual Charm City Mods vs Rockers

A guy I sold a tank to just mailed me a flyer and I'm really interested in going to a new event. Is there parking nearby for a 6x10 trailer and SUV? I want to bring something old but I'm 100 miles away and old age and wisdom prevent me from riding an old bike that far. I broke down last week on my '73 Tiger and luckily a friend was nearby with a trailer already on his truck. If not, a 100 mile blast on my 1050 tiger wouldn't be a bad thing either. I have a bike event that day right in my town, but I'll blow that off to do something different. From looking at the satellite photos of the venue, it looks like it might be one of those uptight summer resort towns with lots of parking rules, so I want to avoid any hassles.

Essex? Uptight summer resort town? Um, no. I don't think you have to worry -- Essex definitely isn't Annapolis.

Al, so what's the 'schedule of events' for Saturday? You mentioned that there was going to be a ride of sorts - when is that happening? As well, what time do you need to be there to enter your bike in the judging? Not sure whether I'd be in the 'Japanese' or the 'Bits' category......

The schedule (subject to change) looks like:

10:00am Registration Opens

11:00am Short Mods vs Rockers run into East Baltimore

12:00pm The Motorettes Play 1st set
Signup for the Pinup Contest

1:00pm Pinup Contest
Judging Starts for Bike Show

2:00pm Motorettes 2nd Set
Voting for Pinup Contest

3:00pm Brighten Beach Chair Toss
More music

4:00pm Trophies for Bike Show
Pinup Contest Winners Announced

So I'm assuming that you can do the short ride as well as being entered in the show?

Let's hope for good weather!

Yes, that's why it's a short ride. More emphasis on show than a ride.

So far the forcast is looking good. Keep you fingers crossed.

It was a real nice event you guys pulled off, well worth the 100 mile ride on such a beautiful day. I spent the summer not working and attending all sorts of bike , car and music events, and I couldn't give you one single bit of negative constructive criticism. The food and drinks were reasonably priced and very tasty, staff from the bar were friendly and the bikes and people were interesting. I'm not a big bobber or chopper guy, but the LCF Fabrication guy's bikes were very creative and original. I split when the joy ride took off, I hope the rest of the day went smoothly. I wish I could have stayed to see more of the music and contests, will you post the bike show winners somewhere?
