Bad luck with DCC.

I reject your reality, and substitute my own!
This is in nooooooo way meant to diss DCC, just to vent my frustrations. I bought some Mikuni carbs from them, and they got delayed because of the earthquake in Japan. Totally not their fault. I ordered clipons on April 20 and was told yesterday they won't even get to DCC until early July, and then there's the wait for shipping. Also, not their fault. My issue is my impatience, and that I could find an easy solution if I could get ahold of anyone at the shop to ask for a refund. Seriously. I can buy clipons cheap off of Ebay, but I choose to support my cafe racer brethren. If I owned the shop, I'd have bought those ebay clipons and had them shipped direct to the customer to avoid the huge delay. But I don't, and DCC is still a great shop. I just want to finish my bike. Thanks for listening.

That is frustrating...
There is nothing worse than waiting on parts... and waiting... and waiting...
I wish you luck in tracking down what you need.

i think we all suffer from a little impatience but when its all said and done it's all worth it, think about all the time and effort you already put in, a little bit of patience will truely be your reward in the end

I'll still be shopping with DCC, but I need my bars, like, NOW. I can't do my wiring, measure for my brake line, or attach my throttle cable without them. And it's really hard to move my bike around to get at certain things besides. I think it's most frustrations that I can't seem to contact them, either by e-mail or phone.

If you can talk to DCC I'm sure they will work with you. They are all great people. Have you seen the post by henryabler, DCC clip-ons for $75?

Could be filming for 'second season'?
Herm showed me a couple of Featherbed frames someone brought in ;)

yeah, I've bought a TON of stuff from DCC and have nothing but good things to say about them. No offense, but I think your impatience is the issue here... you can't blame DCC for not having something in exactly when you want it; I'm sure if they COULD, they would already. The guys there definitely understand what it means to have to wait on parts. So yeah, rather then being a little patient in waiting for a response (they get a good bit of business now; you might not be the only customer they have to deal with!) you come and make a post complaining? not cool.

And no, I do not work for them or know any of them personally (though with their customer service, I almost feel like I do), but rather am speaking out as someone who works the other side of the counter. Give them time; they are only human beings. once upon a time if you wanted parts you had to hunt around using what you heard from one person, and hope that the part was there. The near instantaneous gratification provided by the internet seems to have created a very detrimental effect on the majority of the public...

I'm ranting now, sorry. Just know what it feels like to have your hands tied up with 30 things at once as a customer complains that X and Y isn't done right then and there because their life is so damn important that the whole world has to wait on them and no one else. In the end though, I can assure you, any upstanding business such as DCC sees you right there and really is trying their best to help you out; its just impossible to do it as quickly as they (and you!) would like, at times.

;D
The voice of experience has spoken.
You do get some insight working in a shop, sometimes customers really suck, but, they all make you happy ;)

my lord... the day has come, when PJ has looked at one of my posts and considered it to be of some value, let alone calling it the "voice of experience"

This may just be the happiest day of my life........

I have ten bucks that says you'll be long time riding
around With your wanted clip-ons before
I see my frames back!!

Good on ya for not slamming DCC for thongs
Beyond their control! You know, they only want
To serve you well!

Ride Well y'all

@Rocan in the OP's defence he did say off the bat that he wasn't slamming DCC.

Jus' sayin'

I appreciate that. Again, I'm just venting because I can't seem to contact the shop. I know they're good people and are willing to help me out. I just couldn't express myself any other way. And you have to admit, it is a looooong wait. Plus it got pushed back twiice already, so yeah, I'm frustrated. But like I said in the original post, I hold nothing against DCC.

Call me crazy, but i tasted a sprinkling of sarcasm in PJs voice...hahaha!

How does anyone buy things from DCC?
Their site is so bad, anytime I go there I leave right away...
Actually most of the new "cafe" parts sites use a similar layout

Agreed, nothing is worse than waiting for parts.
Even worse is whilst the waiting you figure out a cheaper better way of doing something and now your thinking why the hell did I spend $200 on a kit for a seat that doesn't include the seat pan!?!?!
My stupidity got the best of me there!
But really to anyone trying to order Japanese parts, even from where I am in Asia things are slowly trickling in and God knows when we will actually see our parts. I was promised by the shop I could get my stuff this month. 5 days ago I heard back from them saying I won't see anything till at least August unless I let them air freight it over for an addition cost, even then they cant tell me when the parts will arrive.

I would expect DCC's parts to be of higher quality than the cheapest option on ebay.
Waiting on parts sux, I know. But maybe it builds character : )

maybe and maybe not.
Ive seen alot of places selling the same parts...

Also I assume that DCC is trying to keep inventory down to save money.
the by product of that is slower shipping...
