I agree with 7 on the tank solution; Painted knee dents would look good. Another option you might want to consider: Tech spec tank grips, you would have to custom cut them - but it's pretty easy, and it would add to the racer feel.

I like those ideas, but i'm still not sure what i'm gonna do yet, except finish both tanks, then decide. :-\

Received my tax return this week, put in my order from dime city, still a lot of work to do.

Also my aluminum rims arrived yesterday...Yay! They're not a heck of a lot lighter than the originals, but i'll bet they're stronger... and they look freakin' awesome.

I shifted gears a little to take a break from this tank headache. i'm going to go black with the spokes.

Toughest, Most durable paint i've ever come across(other than powder coat). it's comparable to POR 15

Mate, keep up the good work and the photos the brain snap withe the knee dents had me in tears, such a lovely tank and super idea of the polished understated stripe, oh well the tank extension is going to make those knee dents superfluous.

Started lacing the rims this weekend, wow, what a bitch. Never have before on a motorcycle , only a bicycle, still have yet to true and balance the assemblies...

Once i get the bare frame completely stripped and textured, i plan on coating it with this:

Wow , just saw the video you posted on your 360 build about the lacing, that could've saved me a few hours.

got my rear shocks yesterday,did some work on the triple clamp, applied some MORE bondo... It's a good day

Made a little progress this week, not much...better than nothing. Received my order from Dime City two days ago ;D Those guys are awesome. Super exited to get some work done.

cleaned and repacked both sets of wheel bearings, mounted my vice in the basement, trying to set up a crude truing station for the rims.

I'm finally at the final stages of bondo application on the tank, so that headache is almost done.
Paint and body has never been my strong point, such a pain in the ass to get it right, i feel much more comfortable inside an engine.

Got my tires...woohoo, I don't have to work this weekend so my goal is to true the rims, mount the tires, finish stripping the frame, and assemble a rolling chassis.

threw some parts together to get an idea of what it will look like... gotta say i like it. The rear shock are an inch longer than stock so it looks like i might have to do one of those idler sprocket thingies. ;D i am going with the 17 tooth sprocket in the front though, so i might be able to get away without it.

Decided on gloss black for the tank and i'm gonna try to do a checkered stripe down the tank in aluminum leaf, but i've heard that stuff is hard to work with. I might polish the cowl, we'll see.
