Battery Position help needed

Working on relocating the battery on my bike this afternoon, and have a question. I have a 80 CX500 D, I've seen some guys mount underneath, but I want to keep my junk under there as is.
Can I mount the battery, on it's side, to the bottom of where the seat goes? I've also pulled out the air filter box, and plan to get pods for the carbs.

here's a pic of where I have to work in :

area where battery is, is where I want to keep the battery. Can I install/mount it on it's side? would that screw up the juices in it?

no you cant mount that battery on its side. only a sealed battery can be mounted that way. if you're going to keep that big battery for the bike i believe local auto places should have a sealed alternative. otherwise you'll have to go online.

Those will work just fine. Just make sure you kick-start the bike. Any 12 volt battery will essentially work.

2 questions, probably both dumb too.

1) which battery from them would I need?
2) what is "kick-start the bike"?

Kick-start - utilizing the kick starter located behind the foot peg on the right side of the bike to start the bike.

CX DOESN'T HAVE A KICK STARTER ::)

Your stuck with a12A/hr battery, unless you want to learn how to bump start
BTW, with engine 'turned sideways, the kick start would have been on the LEFT

good reason for my confusion I guess. Going to get one of those, the 4.6 I think. Excited to wedge it under the seat.

4.6A/hr won't work ::)
You need the 14A/hr Kanticoy found on eBay, it will provide a reserve capacity and isn't any bigger than stock (probably slightly smaller)
Here's a gel cell (sealed) factory replacement...$42.

why won't the 4.6 work? guy from that company said it will work...?

Because it won't . Now take the word of several motorcycle professionals and leave it at that .
"The guy from that company" said anything to get your money .
A motorcycle starter motor will draw a peak of up to 150 AMPS instantaneous . Through practice this relates not to numbers but experience . the 4.6A/Hr Battery will turn the engine over about 3/4 turn and be flat .

So take the word of a guy on the phone representing the company that sells the battery .

or take the near 100 years combined experience in just three of the members that posted to this thread and save yourself some pain . On the other hand read my sig ....
