Beachcomber's TR1 - now "Cafe-Creme" Boardtracker 'ish

Or a chair like this if I decide to go the outfit route .......

Time to get busy again. The garage is now bone dry and just waiting for the installation of the flourescent lights.

In the meantime I decided to sort out all the parts I've been collecting. Doesn't look like much does it? But essentially it's all there bar the frame [!! ] and seat.

The wheels which went to the shotblasters last week - came back, NOT blasted. After saying they could do them, they decided the wouldn't ! Arseholes. So back to my old blasters who have done the job successfully before.

I'm bidding on this little Aprillia rolling chassis [ £100 -$160 ? ], and that will donate it's headstock, front end, wheel. brake and V5 [ documents ]. I've got sales for all the other parts I don't need of £200 !

As soon as I have power / light in the garage I can start work on the detailing, sanding, painting of the components.

Hope at last. ::)

BC, I sort of lost track of the vision here. Is it like one of these http://harleysons.de/cyclone.htm or are you thinking more along the Brighton Run lines now?

I would like to affirm your original inspiration for a Board Track racer look. Besides, I have not seen a yellow frame in a very long time. As you can see, I'm just choosing to ignore the Coffee and Cream idea. :)

Teazer - still firmly Boardtracker [ Cyclone 'ish ] style.

Ideally I'd like some Vincent forks ... may have to get something made eventually as genuine Vinnie forks are £800 - £1000.

Have you seen the "Phantom" ? I'll try to find some pix.

Don't get mislead by the various Brass period pieces - they will be put into service, but not in their original format. Frinstance - the "Grease Gun" will be modified into a fuel log for the SU's.

I'm still debating with myself over the front end - a drum, or discs for self preservation.

Cafe Creme ? - my other choice was "Plums and Custard" ;)

Man BC, nice thread. Looking forward to seeing all those cool parts come together. One day Im gonna do a board tracker. Those recent pictures make me drool!

HD - it's these pix doing the rounds that keep the juices flowing when work .. er isn't :-[

Teazer - no, only for a brief second or three then dismissed to the "don't be stupid" pile. ;)

The Stoye 2 really has to be the one, but that's £1000 [ $1600 ? ] I don't have to spare. The Squire [ Red / Black ] has possibilities with the right accessories to look along the lines of the Torpedo one we saw [ have to find out the make / name ].

The frame is being designed so that the bike can be solo or chair with minimal work - the final decision being financial. :-\

Here's a thing - when we bought our place in Saxony [ 9 years ago ], 2 houses up in the same village there were some real old DDR Cold War relics, including a couple of Trabants, 3 MZ solos and ....................a Jawa with what I now know to be a Stoye !!! There was also a Barkas "Pritz" [ pick-up ]. When the old lady died 6 years ago her kids skipped the lot apart from the Barkas.

I offered the kid 200 euros for the Truck and he's thinking about it - no, I don't know what I'll do with it either !!! [ Stonkin' V8 in the pick up bed, 15" x 15" wheels / slicks ................................ ].

Teazer, noted your muted dissapproval re: the Aprillia. That's what I love about the input here - you have trusted [ ] people you can bounce ideas off. It did go for £100 in the end and as such was a bargain. However, I'm now looking at pre- 1972 Japanese with large 'ish front drum brake or small disc. Pre- '72 means it's "Oldtimer" [ Historic ] status in the UK, and you pay no road tax and a lower insurance

Just went through my pics and then realized most have come from your threads. But here are a couple I had that may be "new"... the bottom one is a nice size if you can click and save. ;)

Thanx for that HD - keep 'em coming.

How's this for a bit of lateral thinking ?

Young German guy built this fo under 1000 euros [$1800 ? ] using a 250 Virago as a base.

Strange thing is I had NO interest in this style until the last year or so. You have to admire the balls of our predesessors - 100 mph +, no front brake [ mostly ], skinny non grip tyres .................

Now you're talkin!
I liked the V-twin "vintage" look but thought a Harley motor would be too big. was looking for an old VT Ascot 500. but a 250 would be PERFECT! and they made them over a decade here, must be an old one for sale cheap around here somewhere. ;)

hey beach, not sure if you have seen this or not before...seemed pretty interesting!

Yeah, not as if I have TOO many projects at the moment, but I HAVE been scouring E-Bay for cheap 250 Viragos.

Not many air cooled physically small V twins around. This one just looked so right .............

Someone with more knowledge than myself of modern era bilkes might devise a list of suitable air cooled V Twins ?

I've also been looking at the Puch and similar mopeds.

Green that is another nice piece of lateral thinking - literally - Guzzi turned sideways ?

Its a 630cc Briggs and Stratton V-twin with a Comet CVT tranny. There's something about the vast range of parts put together to make something like that that just makes me hot under the collar! haha

I have a non-functional generator with a still running V-twin engine.....hmmmmm.
Wasn't there a really neat build here based on a Kohler and a BMW frame?

Saw these at Sammy Millers museum a few weeks ago.

Looking at the front forks of those last two more closely I have a question.
I thought the extra tubing leading the main fork was sprung suspension. But on these it looks fixed. Is it just reinforcement for additional strength?

Oh, and I think I got this here, but just in case I am confused (again)... Here's a link I have in my "favorites".
Board Trackers Forum

While pokin around on there I found this "new" build.

Thanx yet again HD for the headsup.............. oh dear, that's more daily trawling I have to do now !

Yes - the frames are essentially bicycle frames with added reinforcement / tubing. Take a look at early Mopeds. not much more than that - an engine in a bicycle.

Regrettably my designer / engineer's brain won't let me leave the "what if's" alone ::) So many ideas - so little time. :'(

Thanx also Johnu - another good reason to visit the museum again.
