Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

I love that even the dust on your tires matches the paint scheme in those last pics!

Have you thought about doing something with that coil? It doesn't look bad, but it's sort of prominent up there. My first thought was to put it in some sort of brass sleeve. But maybe a stitched leather tube would be cool. One more detail of hand-worked cool, but it could also get busy really fast.

So, I've given up on the DOHC forks, even though the leading-axle stup would've provided a little more trail and the air-forks were a nice touch.

Actually, increasing offset will decrease trail.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Hey curbcast, I really like that! However I my have another plan for the headlight ears. It will be something to go with the wider trees done up in brass. JRK gave me the idea but as of right now I'm going to keep it under my hat until I decide if we are going to do the trees. I think Swagger has an awesome plan and I think they would turn out sweet but i'm just not 100% sure yet.
I do want to do a few more things to the bike but I think it is at the point that some things could really change the look. I think I just have to be careful.
With that said, Dcwp is right about the coil(s). I think they need to be gone and so does the horn. I've been tryin to come up with some place for them. I like the idea of an oil bag looking chamber under the seat with the coils hidden inside. That will be something I tackle later this winter.
I rolled her outside in the sunshine and took a few shots with the newly painted rims and the phat tires. whatcha think?

looks great! i was going to sugest you keep that little trick on the low then post it up... i will keep a lid on my other build photos to that yu can post that sucker up... i was going to do that on my wifes bobber but it did not look right with the brass on her scoot... but it does look insane! funny part is... after it is done... ask people to guess how you did it... they will never know! it is unreal!
let me knwo if you need any help!

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

on the coils.... if you get some brass pipe, slice it and open it up, put that round the coils then use some glue to glue the sleeve right to the coil... would work out just fine. and look trick! hell you can even get some brass sheets, i got it in paper thin sheets in my shop now. i made my switch pannel using it and some alum. you cna just cut this with sissors and glue it on... done! super easy

i rivited mine to the alum and then polished it

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Sweet ideas bro. Yeah, I didn't let the cat out the bag completly but kind of, hahaha. Yep if you don't mind hold onto those photos because it is one of those things you'd never know unless someone told you. It just looks cool. I really wish you and a bunch of other DTT guys lived closer. Man I think we could do some cool stuff. I guess we'll have to be satisfied with our internet connection for now.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

I personally think the coils look great right there. It's a gritty bike, so no use in tarting it up too much. For the headlight, I think a Bate's style light mounted to the lower tree would look great.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

You know that 'thing' you're thinking about........can be done to the shocks as well. Will really tie it together and lend further to the vintage air it has going.......

just a thought amigo!

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

i also agree that leaving the coils where they are is the way to go... it looks like a performance mod to the old scoot and that is somehting that i always like to show off!

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Quit pussy footin around it Troy.. You know the only front end for that bike is a old Trumpy style girder with a big fat damper knob that says "Slow death" on the left side and "Quick death" on the right.

You can build it....

Hell, I'll even send you all the schematics.

Or, am I gonna have to be the first one on DTT with a CB-basketcase-bobber-brat-cafe-es'pecial-de'girder? LOL! ;)

....this bike continues to amaze me brother. absolutely brilliant sir. absolutely brilliant.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

TROY IF YOU BUILD THAT PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BUILD 2!!!!! I WILL SEND YOU WHATEVER YOU NEED I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO ROCK A GIRDER!!!!!!!
I will powder them any color we need! ahh man that would be insane!

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

well it just so happens PINK is my fav color.... everything i love most is pink! ha ha ha

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Well thanks for the props fellas I'm so glad you all are liking it. As for the coils I'll have to consider those as well. I see what you are saying Chris and Joe and I pretty much agree. If i decide something it will be later this winter, but don't be surprised if I leave em where they are ;).
Girder...., hummmmmmm. Just wait till I show you a bike that I found a couple weeks ago. I've since gone back 3 times just to look at it. Mainly the front end. It is located in a back yard shop just up the road. It was built as a biker build off and won a couple of trophies and was a feature in the Horse mag.
So a girder could be a posibility. But then again you should see the tree set up that Swagger can do for me. It would be sick!

Pink...? Well, I like pink too but not on anything I'd build ;D

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

ha ha ha i want a girder, for my scoot... main reason is it will not look so much like yours that way! ha ha ha i pulled out my cb350 bobber this weekend and the wife laughed and said, that looks like the troy guys bike on the cafe forum... i just started to laugh! they do look alot alike... i got some tricks up my sleeve to take care of that... i may end up doing a mono shock or when i kick out the swing arm. doing the shocks on the inside of the frame rails... i think that would be differnet and cool!

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Looks amazing with those tires Troy, really made all the difference. I too like the idea of a girder on it, but think the simplicity of the current front end is good too.

Even just adsing a bottom mount 4.5" chrome lamp like Sausage has would do the trick I think.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Instead of wrapping the coils with brass you could cut beer cans the same way to cover them!!! lol ;D

Looks great, love the tires!!

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

HELL YA! that is killer! i have done that on oil filters on harleys!!! that would be killer... find some oldstyle cans! would be pefect!

Thanks man. Hey is he still around? What a killer bike he did. Wonder what he did with the birds nest wiring that was in the factory light? If you see him tell him to stop in and see us.

Well Marc,...vintage Beer cans..., Ok I can dig it. Wouldn't be too bad. It would be cool to find a couple of very old copper or brass containers of some sort too. Good stuff my friends, good stuff..

Hey Joe would it hurt your feelings too much if I decided to make 2 girder front ends? If our bikes are going to resemble each other we might as well go all the way. I think it would look kick ass. However, Just putting different paint on them will give them their own idenitity. To be honest I'm still kicking around the Swagger trees. I really need to you to see what he has mocked up. It's pretty f'n sweet!
