Been Around the Block
So i have been on here for a few months now researching, planning, trying to come up with ideas for what i wanted to do. I orginally planned to try and find a decent condition CB750, but i came across an 81 Kz1000 for $650 on craigslist last nite, i just couldn't pass it up. The bike runs, only with the choke on, so it obviously need the carbs cleaned and rebuilt. The brakes need to be freshened up too, but besides that i figure new tires and a battery and i should have myself a decent little bike. I plan to cafe it out at some point, but thats a wait and see thing till i get to riding agian and get back comfortable to riding a bike since its been years since i last rode. Any ways, here's some pics, i know it may not look super clean or anything, but the bike is dirty more than anything else after not being rode in the last couple of years and being stored in a garage.

Thx man, i just need to get my plan of attack right at this point. I think my first step should be a good manual so i know that I'm getting the right parts. thats obviously number one, but the second is a place to get the parts from that is reliable. Do any of you guys know of one for early 80's kawasaki's?

Kaw's are kinda the odd man out. What parts are you looking for exactly?

And welcome to the mix.

Nothing really to difficult, at least i wouldn't think. Basically carb rebuild kits, gaskets, mainly maintenance type like stuff. As for when i start to try and customize it, i was really gonna try my hand at fabricating what i could. That way when something breaks or gets dented i should be able to fix it. This is my first bike so its all an up hill learning curve for me. All my mechanical experience is really from modern cars with fuel injection and submarines, lol. I'm hoping this bike isn't that much more complicated for me cause its smaller.

You would be surprised sometimes........

Hopefully another Kawasaki owner chimes in, but all I can think of are the obvious: bikebandit.com, ebay, Dime City, RocCityCafe, denniskirk.com, etc.

Lol, well i have always had a knack for finding interest in the odd man out! Its like my love for inline six's in cars and trucks, most people could care less.
