best insurrance for a new CA rider.

I'll start this by saying I know there is no best choice when it comes to insurance. I'm a new rider with an m2. I haven't taken my safety course yet but I'd like to soon. I currently have a 1980 CB 650 Custom. Anyone have a preference in companies? I'd like to have full coverage and road side assistance if possible. I'd also like to keep the total below $800/yr.

Ended up with progressive if anyone else finds this later down the road. I got full coverage w/roadside assistance for about $700/yr.

I went with Progressive as well, also in CA (San Diego). They had the best rates-to-coverage ratio I could find.

Despite being a new rider (yet to take the safety course or the dmv test for my endorsement) mine was only about $200/yr, but I only have liability, comprehensive and roadside, rather than full coverage.

Sucks cause it depends on a drivers record and amount of time being licensed. So not much help without your guys minor background info; as price would/will vary for others... Irregardless though!

@akasoldats very good to know for 'full coverage' as I'm looking into it as well. Would prefer that option for a motorcycle. Plans for a CB550 build myself.

@timeconsuming yours was perfect for me though, as money is always an issue, and I'm more of a liability type of insurance guy behind a vehicle.

Either way good info. Thanks for them. Maybe fill in on some minor background info though.

I'm fairly new to CA so my drivers record out here is fine. Back in Michigan I have 3 points on my license though. All from speeding tickets ... When I looked at me drivers record here it didn't show up, so I guess it really depends how far in depth the insurance company is willing to investigate.
