BIKE wont start Electrical problem fixed have spar still won't go links SONRIER?

Im very sorry to have to send you to another link but I believe I have described it as best I can in the thread link. I can imagine that this is not the most popular place for a bmw question but this is an electrical problem and with this wiring diagram and link someone with more experience than I may be able to decipher the problem seeing as most bikes are quite similar when you get down to it. I know no one who has more electrical knowledge than I do (not to sound cocky its just that in my small town I have no close peeps with that knowledge...sad I know), and I believe this is a problem that doesnt require 200 dollars to fix, Im just 20 years old and still learning everyday.

This may help also even though it is for a k100 not a k75

Re: BIKE wont start Electrical problem, fuse popping PLEASE HELP links SONRIER?

Yeah, it's shorting. Find out where. Do you have a test light?

Re: BIKE wont start Electrical problem, fuse popping PLEASE HELP links SONRIER?

Chase down every wire that branches from that fuse. One of them is touching a ground somewhere.

Multi is fine, but a 6 or 7 dollar test light will be faster for ya. Harbor Freight sells a 2 color one, that is, red of hot, green if ground. Could help ya.

Re: BIKE wont start Electrical problem, fuse popping PLEASE HELP links SONRIER?

When is the fuse popping? When you turn the bike on? When you press a certain button?

Re: BIKE wont start Electrical problem, fuse popping PLEASE HELP links SONRIER?

I think it is popping when I flip the kill switch to on. Ill try to get to harbour freight that sounds helpful. There are very many things powered by fuse 1 Im going to unplug everything and plug it all back 1 by 1

Re: BIKE wont start Electrical problem, fuse popping PLEASE HELP links SONRIER?

OK. Finding what circuit is actually the problem is going to be the first step. If it is the kill switch, that's a pretty simple fix. I don't usually advocate this approach, but if you have spare fuses, you can try turning one thing on at a time until the fuse is blown and then you know where your problem lies.

Just for reference, the kill switch should have a green and a green/yellow wire. The green wire should run directly from the ignition switch and go to the kill switch without passing go. The green/yellow then exits and splits off to the fuse box, all three coils, and the ignition unit.

Re: BIKE wont start Electrical problem, fuse popping PLEASE HELP links SONRIER?

i put in new fuses cleaned all connections and now it's lighting up and the start button works. however the bike won't start, I checked that I have spark the fuel pump is working and plugs are a tad wet after trying with choke up or down or pulling throttle. its just not starting and it's never done this before

If you have spark on all the plugs and good compression, you only have one of two possible issues:

1.) Your timing is off. Could be caused by faulty ignitor or by having the plug wires switched up.
2.) The amount of fuel and air mixture isn't appropriate for combustion. Fuel injection problem.

That Green/Yellow wire does power the fuel injectors, I think... I sorta looked at the schematic.

Ill do some electrical diagnostics on that.

THanks for the thought but I dont know how the timing could have screwed up that fast. the bike was running fine a few days ago I didnt touch the engine.

When it comes to the fuel to air I will look into it but my bike has always started up on the first push of the starter, regardless of choke or whatever. its really weird

Spark plug wires all have corresponding lengths and that is correct

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone who offered assistance.

Finally got it running. One of the pins on the fuel pump connector was a a bit pushed in. Also one of my new spark plugs was bad. I checked all of them today after being so frustrated and turned out one barely sparked. I did notice as well that my ecu had welded to the fork and a cable i pulled was very near so I think it was jumping and shorting it out. So new plug, tie off the cables and tape, THEN off she goes. I have never ridden a cafe before today. Hugging the gas tank elbows in, and head in a tuck (although my big ass speedo adds as a wind block). I know it may sound weird but I felt tingles and chills. Never been that low to the ground pulling through the traffic. Bike is looking gorgeous although I still have a bit to go but the big part is over. Now its just metal bending, cutting and affixing. Still waiting on my magazi mirrors to come in also.

will post pics tonight
