Umm nice. a good rear shock can transform almost any bike if it's dialed in correctly.
I'm always looking out for an affordable Olhins or Penske.
Cheers, 50gary

i just came across your build, love it! your custom shift lever is genius! i also started my build thread on the KTC forum. those guys are full of triple knoledge. will you be at biker Dons in paris this spring?

Thanks boys, feel free to steal any of my ideas for yourselves. I think thats why we post stuff here anyways isn't it. I know I draw alot of inspiration from other members on this site.

Trev, not sure about Biker Don's, I own a bike shop ( Studio Cycle Group ) in toronto so its hard for me to sneak away on weekends in the spring and summer, but I'll do my best to get her finished up and be there.

Cheers.

that`d be cool. its a good time! lotsa triples! i`m going to try to make it up to the T.O. mods and rockers as well.

Did a bit more work over the last couple of nights and seem to have got my off-set sproclet sorted out.

I made a barrell on the lathe, and then cut the teeth off the old sprocket and machined it to press fit inside the barrel.

Then I cut out the center of the new sprocket and machined it to fit on the ooutside of the barrell.

Pressed it all together, and indicated it to within .003" which should be sufficient.

Here's some pics.

I just need to tig it all up tonight and then recheck that it si true and didnt mone and it should be good to cross off the list.

Next order of buisness id to finish up my pipes. I need to make up some silencers/baffels to fit inside the stingers, as i dont want fat silncer cans hanging off the ends of the pipes.
Then send the pipes off to get coated.

Sweet build, awesome! I wouldn't tig the spocket to the adapter, cause you'll have to change the sprocket one time..
Is there no way to score an outgoing axle and weld that to the adapter? Will keep changing gears a simple task..

Looks like he could whip up another sprocket pretty quickly. That's pretty awesome stuff.

Are you planning to support it with an outboard bearing? I think you'll need to....

Swagger,
I've thought about it but not really sure how I would make it work. I really dont have anything there that I could fasten a bracket to that would support the bearing.
Do you have an pics of any done in the past?

I dont know how many miles I will actually put on the bike. Its really cool but not really all that comfortabe to sit on. lol

Plus I have this weapon showing up mid march

Sorry, was typing quickly....

I don't have any pics of anything I've done, but it shouldn't be too hard and likely with the output you'll have, I worry that you could stress the seat/case/shaft enough for badness to occur.

Let me take a closer look at your pics and see if I can muddy up the waters some..because badness is never good.

Ok...back from the depths...
Looking at this pic:
index.php

it appears that there's room behind the sprocket on your barrel. I imagine one could source a bearing that'd fit(perhaps a bit of turning) and mill a simple aluminum carrier that could bolt to the engine via the sprocket cover bolts. You could incorporate your modified cover too. Since it'd only be serving a suplimentary function I think the M6(?) threads and the force spread across the entire surface where they bolt together would be up to the task and you'd have a little mechanical insurance against your chain line flexing and flinging it off. If you've never been smacked by a chain gone wacko...don't, it leaves a mark...either on you or the bike. :-\

Conversely, you could also go the other way and build a bearing support that replaces your current sprocket cover all together and source a bearing to run inside the barrel.

Perhaps you could build something like this outrigger bearing unit (for a Banshee).

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Banshee-3-piece-Ultra-Light-Stator-Cover-unpolished-/280570890366?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item415354087e

It uses a special sprocket nut which extends a cylindrical section into the bearing.

I've got one for my over-the-top RZ project.

Crazy

Not sure I want to go with the billet madness but I think i've had a light come on.
I may be able to machine a piece of 3/8 aluminum that could do the job and still hide it behind the sprocket cover.
I would just have to take the 3/8 or 1/2" whatever material I decide to use off the back of the sprocket cover.

I'll have to do a fair bit of studying, and get the hampster back on the wheel in my head again but I'm sure I could figure something out.

Do you know of any other kits or builds that have done this. I'd just like to see a few more before i dive in head first.

Justin, any time you in Toronto, make sure you look me up!

Don't know of any other of-the-shelf outrigger units - this one only exists because of the Banshee ATV crowd and their big horsepower motors with sudden power delivery without YPVS.

Crazy

Ok so I'm gettin my sorry ass back to work!

Got my pipes finished up an coated, and I'm installing them tonight.

After that I got to figure out that sprocket support beaing thing, and then wire this bitch up.

Do you guys have any ideas for a really cool tail light. Got to be small and slim something I can hide away nicely, that isn'y going to look like a cancerous growth hanging off the back?

Cheers.
D.
