BUILD OFF!!!! LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE A WINNER!

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

dude the new bars are the best! I want a set of them on my bike some day so I can mount my skateboard as a windscreen (and so I don't have to carry it on my back.) I love that you're going with a giger look too.

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

i like that headlight mount! is that just welding rod bent? that is so clean!!! if i was you i would accent that part, looks awesome

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

hell yeah that mount looks great. It goes perfect with the bars, it's just solid stock tightly bent? What did you use to do the bends over 90º?

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

Ya Joe, it's 3/8" hot rolled round stock. It turned out pretty good. The cool thing about it is it's seamless. All one piece.

Twisted...

haha.. I doubt that. I'm just getting it together. But it'll come back apart for paint. I gotta ways...

Pawn, Ya I just used a jack stand for an anvil, a torch, and a hammer.

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

I like the headlight mount. I'm a big "less is more" kind of guy, so I can appreciate something so clean and simple. Great idea.

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

That headlight bracket is sweet. I really like that. It would have been so much easier to do in two pieces, but the fact you didn't makes it even better. Keep it up. I'm not in love with the bars. just my opinion. If you want to go apes i think you need to kong the top rails of the subframe.

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

i don't understand why everyone says kong the frame when one could more easily cut the seat rails near the shocks, and triangle cut near the backbone and move them downwards creating a similar but unique look without having to brace the frame more. Konging looks cool and all, but I think stock geometry up front looks better. Either way window drag bars are the shit!

Thanks for the cpmliments...

While that bike you posted is nice for sure. I just dont like that subframe... It;'s on the verge of drop seat, which is not my tastes at all.

Even though I've entered a "Build Off"... I am still building this bike to my preferences.Otherwise voting will be over, and I'll be riding it around, thinking "why the fuck did I let that fucker talk me into this?" haha

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

And a pic with me on it. It's small... I think Japanese fit these bikes better haha. I'm only 5'8". Some of those singles that they're building gotta be tiny in person.

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

i know, Check Heiwa, they're all 250's, and they're putting what look like 5" tires on the front!

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

If there are bonus points for finishing first, I think we all know where this is headed...

Looking great Louie, lovin' the whole set up.

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

is def looking good... i know you are not wanting to cut it up, and i ocmpletely see your point (the letting others talk you into stuff) did you see how i cut up the frame on my CB350 bobber? it is slight, and i think you would dig it for this build... just ideas bud, just ideas.
IMO it looks like you are sitting too HIGH on the bike where i like to sit more in the bike... in my head that makes 100% perfect sence but maybe not reading it. hahaha

haha... I hear ya Joe. It's not so much that I dont want to cut it up. I've already removed 2 of the 3 backbones, and tons of misc. other shit. I just dont want any sort of drop seat. I want to be able to ride this bike when I'm done. And not look like I've got a little tiny bobber stuck up my ass. All preference I suppose.

There is a bike in one of my Iron Horse mags that keeps popping up in my head since I've started this build. It's a sporty. And it's done in this sorta nerdy/mexi flavor. Still very bratt in my opinion. I'll see if I can find it again and post a pic. I think it'll give people a better Idea of what I'm shooting for.

I guess I'm not a big fan of some of the Brat hybrids. Where brat meets cafe etc. I think that done well they are visually stunning. But , also think the rider looks insanely uncomfortable on most. I like "upright" ergonomics in a bike. Maybe I'm getting old? I do know that as time passes, my tastes get less extravagant. Seems a primary concern of mine when building a bike these days is practicality and utility.

Also, if I were to lower the seat anymore. It would either require forwards, or rearsets. I dont do forwards, period. And I guess if I wanted rearsets, I would have built a cafe...? I dunno...

Like I said before, I really appreciate the input and comments. I have unusual taste across the board. So, I wont be, and am not currently surprised that a majority are not feel'n it. I figure if I have any chance @ winning this (which is SLIM), it will be because of subtle hints and an attention to detail. I am completely aware that the XS is the underdog here... Lucky for me I'm a big fan off shitty odds. haha

I'm going to go find that pic of the that sporty. Maybe I can get you and the rest of the dropseat nazi's off my back.... hahaaaaaaaaaaaa That was a funny of course. Did you laugh?

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

I feel ya on that! after all it is your bike build what you dig man. to deal with the lower pan and foot possition i adjusted the angle, and moved my seat mout to the very back of the rails, since the tire is kicked out it allows for this.
you can see when the pan is lowered, in back like that how the pegs in the standard spot are good! i am very comfortable on mine and i am a big guy!

you can see there is plenty of room for the pegs and legs

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

but to be honest the more i look at the pic you posted the more it is growing on me!

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

I dig the flat seat rails Louie, odd enough, I think you and I have a similar taste when it comes to this style bike.

Re: BUILD OFF!!!! A THIRD ENTRY HAS SURFACED!!!!

well this also helped me to start to really dig it... i cropped and added some light to the pic he posted so i could get a good look, after that it started to come togheter for me
