Buying Advice Needed Please

Been Around the Block
Question for all. I have a running 1972 cb350 twin that is an ongoing project. However, I was looking for a donor engine to rebuild over the winter and to use later on down the road. I found another '72 350 twin on craigslist. I would probably buy it and then part everything out except for the engine. I haven't seen it in person and probably wouldn't be able to before it gets delivered by the seller. First I'd like to know whether you would buy a non-running, non-titled CB350? If so, what would you pay? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

No more that $200, and thats if its complete and in good shape. You can make a good bit of money parting it out if everythings in good working order. Way more than the purchase price.

Thanks Mike, that's what I was thinking. I'm waiting for some photos. there are clubmans on it from what I can tell though, so there are probably some changes by POs. But we'll see if the guy sends some more photos along. He asked $400 on CL. Then he said $300+ delivery once I asked if he would part it out and just sell me the engine.

I would tell the seller that a non titled bike is worth almost nothing.
Would not pay more then $100 no matter how good it was

Then just get a title.....

In NY if it's 73 n older it's easy

Yeah its actually a '72 and I don't intend to title it, just part it out and keep and rebuild the engine.

Now he's got me curious b/c he said its a 72 twin, but then he sent this photo. I sure don't recognizes those gauges as being on a '72.

And he may have overstated the condition of the bike. Thoughts?

Not a 360, oil filler in wrong place.
72 CB 350 didn't have disc brake, may be a 500 front end?

I'm thinking it is too much of a frankenstein to blow money on especially without a title. I'll make him an offer just for the engine again (even though he doesn't want to part it out) and move on otherwise.
