CA95 Benly Cafe... MAYBE!

BCBarker

Coast to Coast
Lining up the next project.... Anyone ever seen one of these as a cafe? it's a 150cc bike... It's in crappy condition right now but I think I can get it super cheap! and there seems to be a lot of parts via Thailand.

What do ya think?

I'm not sure "cafe" would be the right classification for that. A cafe racer is typically stripped to the bare minimum and as light as possible. It looks like a lot of extra bits give it the shape and style it has. It's definitely a slick looking vintage bike though and would turn some heads though.

I know it wouldn't be a true "Cafe" but you don't see these out there and I think if I get it I would have to "cafe" it a bit.

I wish It looked like the one above... Finally got a good pic of it.

Rusty and motor is "locked up"... I was able to move it a bit but I didn't mention that to the owner!

Ahh... but stamped steel frames are SOOOOO cafe :)

Google the CB92 for a Honda stamped steel frame factory racer.

I don't think this gem remotely refutes Dr.J's comment, so I assume that was sarcasm.

The amount of mods required to make a decent cafe out of this little treasure is mind boggling. I appreciate that guy's attempt, but its a resounding NO.

I have faith in BCBarker though and would never discourage someone rising to the challenge. I did see a guy fiberglass straight around the rear frame/fender and just cut out around the rear shock mount. At least it had a straight line to match the bottom of the tank. Good luck with it no matter what you decide, either way it could be fun and unique!

WOW! That CB92 Tank is SEXY! I wish this was that! but now I want it even more! Time to talk her down!

I think I might change my mind on this one. Here is a link to the seat build I referred to.

<a href="http://www.hondatwins.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=325&st=0&sk=t&sd=a">*66Sprint Fiberglass*</a>

It is on the Honda Twins forum and I think he pulled it off with ease on a similar frame. I say go for it!

i think it might look better if you do a black on black on black military style build rather than a cafe

something like this is what i had in mind.

these bikes are classics, but theyre hideous classics IMHO - i wouldn't bother trying to keep it authentic.
change the fork (maybe even a springer?) and it'll look a lot more lithe

props for thinking outside of the box.. but this is quite the stretch. I mean if you were getting it for <$50 then Id still be reluctant, but if its currently at a price that requires you to "talk him down", just move on.

I like it. I guess beauty is in the eye of the...well you know. Anyhow, I'd ride it and I wouldn't worry about it fitting into a style. Take a vintage piece of crap and make it your own and make it cool.

I should add that if you are looking for a cafe candidate then I agree with the others and maybe you should move on.

I'm not looking for something to be a true "cafe" bike (light, fast, bump stop seat, rear-sets, clubmans, etc). I'm just looking for a unique project to work on that I'd add some "cafe style" to. After reading up on the CB92, I really think this thing could give a CB150 a run for it's money with the right tweeks...

The seller started out asking $700cuz she saw a restored one on EvilBay for 2000. Right now to seller wants 500 bucks for it. I started offering her 50 bucks. She was kinda offended so I said I'd give her 75 and let her know when she can buy it back from me. (apparently it's been in her family since new and she feels emotionally connected to it. the Worst kind of seller!

We'll see if she breaks... I have a feeling that come X-mas time she'll be dying to get rid of it and have some extra scratch...

lol the seller sounds comical... Shes emotionally attached to the bike, yet is trying to use it to make a few bucks. I could understand being emotionally attached to something, but letting it go cuz you can get $500,000 for it. But for 500? Knowing its going to a good home you would think shed be happy to give it away.

Do a c-list search for a 350 and be done with it. You can make your build unique even if you start with a common base. The rabbit hole this lady is stuck in isn't worth crawling into.

I would but I already have a 350F and a 350K4... Don;t need another 350. Either need a 76 or 77 cb750f, or something unique enough to spark my interest... hence the CA95 Benly.... Or a Chevy Apache Pickup... But there is no room at the inn for that!

Yeah, but not in that shape for $500. Maybe for 500 Pesos, although soon that should be about the same amount!
