Looking good. You can new buy zinc plated nuts and 6mm bolts at ACE hardware up on 137 and probably at other hardware stores as well.

Depending on how good your hardware store is, you can even get JIS hardware. In Seattle, we have a hardware store called Stone Way Hardware, who call themselves "The Fastenerds". They are amazing for their selection of JIS stuff for my bikes. Strangely, I haven't found a good place online for JIS hardware.

valves are en-route. I also nabbed a brand NOS speedometer since mine is cracked, rotted and rusted. Can't wait.

Its starting to look like an engine again! Got the clutch rebuilt.. oil pump cleaned and put back on.. jugs painted. piston and piston rings on (in correct order according to the manual..) jugs on.. head painted. I just have to re-assemble the head (Teazer has been kind enough to help with the head and share his knowledge.. cant thank him enough).

Once the head is back on.. I get to try and put the cam chain back on and make sure I don't hose up the timing and ruin all of my work... that should be later this week (hopefully).

ever randomly come across that part that you SWORE you put in.. that goes in the dead center of the engine... after you get to this point? Was a fun evening of resplitting the cases to put this little retaining clip in... Now I am ready to get the head back together.

What part? I want to make sure I don't do the same thing ;) Did you have Threebond on the cases?

I did have to scrape the old threebond off and apply new threebond.. had to be really careful that none fell into the case.

The part is a little ring circlip that goes on the end of the transmission gears. the forward gear gets one on the left of the case (if its upside down and you are looking from the back) and the back trans gear gets one on the right. The other side of the trans is a brass bushing that has a pin lock in the case itself. Its easy to miss when you have a few broken piston rings in the pile that you fished out of the engine months before.

Anyroad.. back to where I was the other night... Going to see about putting the head back together tonight.. if Teazer has time to assist.

Valves, rockers, adjusters and cam are back in the head thanks to Teazer and his wealth of knowledge. I foolishly forgot a part so we couldn't set valve clearance .. but that can be another day... progress is a good feeling.

got some garage time in.. finally got the wire harness out. There was aluminum tape, duct tape and electrical tape holding it together... sort of amazed it ever worked. also pulled the rear wheel off.. check out these shoes.

pretty much no life left in them.. so they need replaced. I would imagine the front is similar... whenever I get to it.

Are you 110% sure that nothing needs to be welded? No brackets snapped off or cracked that need to be attended to? Now is the time to do that visual inspection.

I might actually have it blasted somewhere else first and then do the visual inspection... I have already picked a few spots that need welding.. but nothing load bearing.. just yet. Tear down still is not done.. but you are right now is the time.

Can't believe I didn't see this earlier - looking good, Lazlo!

parts are off at the PC place.. my excitement is killing me. I also ordered new steering bearings, and a new rim since the front is dented pretty badly... Going to experiment with a rim that is on super sale and see if it will lace up from Mikes XS. I hear its hit or miss from there.. so hopefully I get a round one.

Your tank cover don't look bad from there. You didn't find new ones did you? I've never seen NOS tank covers for the early CA95.

Those are the orig. just polished them up. I have a set of newer ones too if you want to buy them. :)
