Cafe Madass

Oh, also your comment about rearsets is the exact conclusion I came to. A bracket of sorts would need to be fabbed. Trust me. I've put thought into the baby cafe idea. ;)

i cant beleive they are called madass...
idiotic.

they are kinda cool but that stuff would be covered up quick..
ranks up there with having a FU stop light..

madass.. geeeezzz

I say a yx160cc engine with the 172cc big bore kit. The asspipe and 1/4 throttle added to the rendering. Along with the aluminum intake pipe complete with cooling fins and a UNI filter in the false tank. Of course with the cafe seat and false tank constructed of carbon fiber, well you have a serious cafe winner!

see this link for engine, big bore kit, asspipe, and 1/4 turn throttle!

The ass pipe is terrible. Bad design. Check out this video of the POC pipe and an explanation for it's design.

Ya, I figured with the design a bracket would be needed to move the controls to rearsets. The tank really is there for appearance, but if done right it could also double as a box to carry random things. My tablet is dead right now, otherwise I'd render a fairing on the thing to see what that would look like.

The false tank would help handling in that you've got something to grip. I used to ride a CT110 for my job and they're more or less interchangeable in the ergonomics department.

Only thing about starting off with something like this and then modifying it is that you're limited right from the start. If you want a neat little around-towner then thats all well and good, but personally I'd be going for something with a bit more nouse from the get-go.

A GS500 for example:

Yeh, I already have a bike. I just think it would be cool to ride around town with a little pipsqueak cafe.

Sorry to dig up an old thread from the grave, but I remember someone saying they wanted a fairing version and I do hate to disappoint.

That's just neat. Perfect commuter bike and around town fun bike. If you built it I would ride it. Heck if I could find a good used madass, I would build it myself. I am currently riding my 450 to work and getting like 40 MPG, would love to have something as fun but that gets like 80-90 MPG.

Friend of mine has one of these. Its like a BMX with an engine. Super fun to slam around in. You feel like hopping onto pavements and things with it. The little 125 four stroke is dinky though.

Love your concept man, its great. The overall design of the Madass is brilliant. The tank in the frame, and the way its simplified. Legendary little machine.

I like the render with the fairing, though I'd want it red and moved forward just a bit.
For bombing around town, you betcha!

I hadn't seen this thread until today. I've been thinking about doing the same thing
to a MadAss since last summer, been drawing ideas for it. But I think your design looks better than mine. :) Nice work.

In New Zealand we have a racing class for 150cc bikes. We race on gokart tracks and folks use all sorts of little bikes all in good fun. Since I sell the Madass I thought I should give it a crack with the Sachs.

As you say rear sets are needed for good racing ergos and nothing is available. As we speak I am in my garage making some rearsets, my idea is to make a wooden form and then get them sand casted in alloy. If this works I'll be able to sell sets to those that desire them.

Cheers
