Cafe-Racer friendly businesses in Australia

Modern Motorcycle Company in Collingwood sell a bunch of caff/bobber/general custom parts. They've got an eBay store with a small range of their stuff, but apparently will be opening a webstore in the next month or so. Cheapest retailer of Nitroheads, Posh, Daytona, blah, blah, blah parts in the non-Japanese speaking world, perhaps! Ships worldwide.

Also builds, fixes, maintains caff racers & others. XS650's, early 70's CB's, SR's, W650's. Like the Birdwood guy, MMCC's mechanic is a perfectionist to the point of obsessive. Check em out if you're in Melbourne.

Well said liam :D

On another note, if you're passing through on the way from Sydney to Canberra, stop in at Goulburn and have a chat with the guys at PC's Race. Been there a few times to get bits and bobs, they've got a full machine shop and dyno setup as well. They're always friendly and have reasonable prices.

Its the traditional race tuning business but I'm sure they'd listen if you wanted to simply get a topend rebuilt or some minor head work done. And yes, they are familiar with older bikes!

Their phone number is (02) 4821 8313 and their adress is 24 Copford Rd, Goulburn, NSW.

Went for a ride out to Deus today for a look, a little disappointed as there were only a few bikes parked out the front but the cafe was busy, not quite the biking mecca I was hoping for ;) Maybe on a weekend. Anyway, on the way back I stopped for lunch at Milsons point and came back to a card on the bike for what looks like a new company, no idea if they are any good but another option for a lot of the stuff Deus is selling. I went to compare prices but the Deus site is down for stock updates or something.

So the new one is

Retrofitted, Custom Motorcycle Stying

Cheers

My name is David, my wife and I have started a small business supplying Cafe Racer parts. Currently we are on eBay and swap meets only. If you go to eBay and look for The Cafe Racer Shop in the ebay stores you'll see what we have. Currently we only stock a few items, but we are growing and constantly looking for suppilers for both new and used. Let me know if there is something you need and I'll either find it or point you in the (hopefully) right direction.
I like to think that I am pretty stright forward so any feed back you can give will be appreciated.
Also I have a facebook page too.
Thanks for reading my post and I look forward to hearing from you all.
Also a mate of mine runs Hand Made Racers -hmrmotorcycles.com. Have a look you will see he has done every thing from super original resto's to full on race bike replicas.

I went into Modern Motorcycle Company today, seems like a good place. the standard 'cafe' parts are available and reasonably priced, it's worth a bit extra to be able to pick them up and check the casting and materials. The dude knew his stuff, i asked him some questions about service costs etc, and it seems on par. of course, if you get him to do everything, then you'll very rapidly end up with a 10 grand bike, but he didn't seem averse to just fixing the odd problems that crop up.

also found the Mischief Makers website, they're based in Brunswick, Melbourne. They do some clean fab work and i will be checking them out for some exhaust mods. http://themischiefmakers.tumblr.com/

Already seems like these are mostly cafe action.
Hope someone can make use of these dues anyway. They have a shitload of 2smoker parts as far as I'm concerned. Nice guy to deal with

also yamrarespares@bigpond.com can be helpful.

And I forgot for the SR users,
There's scotts motorcycles in Artarmon, princess HW.
They sell other shit but specialise in yammers. Guy in workshop is pretty helpfull but have yet to have any hours done on my motor as I'm tight as hell right now.

smv - Scotts are at Arncliffe on the Princes Highway, a long way from Artarmon.

Definitely a good shop and well worth checking out.

Crazy

ahahaha SC, thank you for correcting. i didn't even see the typo.
my ex lives in artarmon. subconscious maybe?? how sad!

have you actually had any mechanical servicing done form them? i bought a little 125(not yamma) off them ages back till the sucker got stolen.
then got my 2stroke and wanted to get them to have a look at the motor. be good to hear first hand info if you've used them before.

cheers.

Carrington Products did some crazy priced pipe bending for me in Riverstone Sydney.

Rear hoop, new rear frame section, 100mm straight cut, custom sleeves and the left over pipe cost me only $143

Hey Guys, I have just started building fully custom Alloy Cafe Racer seats. I can also polish and fabricate anything bike related... Prices starting at a 6 pack of scotch n' coke! Cheers, Matt

Neevo - do you have pictures of this? How did the process work exactly - did you give them a design and they fabricated it, or did you give them an brief of what you wanted and left them to their own devices?

I'd be interested to know - might consider changing the subframe if they could advise on structural implications (even if they just had an idea of how it should be)

Thanks.

My requests were pretty simple, a rear hoop and replacement bend for damaged frame rail and small straight section for bottom rail (all with welding plugs to strengthen the joins). I drew it on a piece of paper with lengths of straight sections, angle of bends and radius for the hoop. They didn't advise on structural stuff as I was only replacing what was damaged and finishing off the cut rear frame.

Pics from my build thread.

I had enough tube left over to make a swingarm brace too which should be finished in the next few weeks.
