"Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

Not during the VROOM VROOM shock test. That's a pretty standard noise for that test. However, it could be adapted to a smoker if the owner chooses too. This is all in the fine print somewhere.

Yes indeed. The smoker requires a "brap brap" sound instead. Its amazing how much different the suspension works depending on if a "vroom" was used or a "brap". Also intensity of the sound and how seriously you take the exercise makes a difference when tuning your suspension.

The "Brap" test didn't come around until the advent of the modern 4 stroke moto crosser. "Ring-a-ding-ding" would be the correct test for a smoker......

Hmmm, your input are highly appreciated. I'll have to keep this in mind and I now understand why things weren't exactly how they should be before I took my CL360 apart. I was doing the VROOM VROOM with my head pointed to the front, but since the CL has both pipes coming out the left side I should have been doing it w/ my head turned to the left so I was properly emulating the correct VROOM VROOM. DANG!!!!! Now when I get the thing back together it'll be unbalanced and will probably only want to go around in circles. Oh well, I'll just put it on CraigsList and sell it for $7,000.

Riiiinnnggggdingdingding is dirtbike 2 smoke

My TZ's sounded like VVVVnnnnNNNTT-VnnNNNNT-VNVNVnnnnNNNNNNNT VnnnNNNNNNNNNNNNT vvVnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnNNNNNNNNNNNNN....... !!

Your ignorance on the "brap" test is appalling. We all know the "Ring-a-ding-ding" test only works on a 2 stroke engine with reed valves and a slightly-under tuned expansion chamber. You will learn someday. I suggest you do a little more research before you make such fool hearted comments :p ;)

Don't sell yourself short, from what ive seen your cafe'd 360 could be worth 10-12k. Just make sure it has nice paint and Firestone Champion Deluxe tires.

I really appreciate your vote of confidence, but since I don't plan to take out the mono-shock and replace it w/ a length of spruce 2X4 to make it into a bobber and I'm not going to use that king & queen seat from your 550, even a set of Iciban Moto-worthy bad ass Firestone tires aren't going to get me more than $7000 out of it, max.

Why wouldn't a 1x4 work? I guess flat plate steel would also suffice.

I have only owned a two stroke for a few weeks and it doesn't run, the seat has fallen apart, and it's too cold right now anyway. It's a 1976 80 cc dirt bike and the shocks seem terrible, however they improved so much now that I know to use the proper brap brap test. Now since this is my first 2 stroke, should I be using the brap brap or the ring a ding ding to tell me the engine pulls strong and the shocks are racing quality?

That totally depends. The moon phase may be un desirable for doing hot laps with the bike anyways. I would say if it was a 1977 do the "ring a ding ding", but on the 1976 you may wanna "brap" it real good. Another popular mod on those ol bikes is to add an additional stroke making it a 3 stroke. You will achive the torque of a 4 cycle with the top end of a 2 cycle. That is if you do indeed brap it..... Brap it real good.

I noticed that as well, it would turn in so fast you would crash in a second (bad builder), but he took the time to build custom boots to allow the carbs to sit flush (props to the builder).

but the bike is un-ridable so wots the poinT ?

What better way to memorialize a fallen rider than to build a death trap, in his honor..... :-\

Seriously, that bike will never be ridden under its own power, and the family it was built for obviously doesn't know, and/or doesn't care because it is just a showpiece for display.

I hope no one in my family commissions something like this for me, after I am gone!

Is it really possible to create a good looking Café wing? And if so, why? ::)

Well, Honda's original intent for the GL was as a sporting bike....more like what we would consider a muscle bike, today. It was only when Craig Vetter started the Windjammer Revolution, that people realized the touring capabilities of the bike.
