I don't see an insane amount of things wrong with this. New brake lines (most people here keep original 40+ year old lines....) Mono-shocking a bike isn't a bad thing and you learn a ton about geometry and how the bike works. Most people don't even understand rake and trail. When I monoshocked my 71' CB500 (wife's daily driver) I took all of that into account and even had to switch from a spring that was too stiff to a softer one and recalculate all of that. She rides on rails at speed, and is surgical at lower speeds. I'm not saying this rendition is set at the right angles, just pointing out that a single shock isn't all that bad.
Now...the lack of fenders is ridiculous. Ride through one puddle and your back has a line up it and water enters your helmet from the bottom due to the front tire (if you wear one)
That set up is putting a ton of force straight into a backbone that was not meant to support it. He didn'the brace the swinger at all, no reason to believe he braced anything else either.
I love a GOOD unishock conversion. I browsed your 500 unishock and like it alot! But yeah this one here looks like it was thought out in the restroom and drawn on a napkin.
Plus there is that nice tab sticking out from under the tank that is in just the right position to snag ur nutz when u decelerate hard and slide off the seat onto the tank.Ouch.bj

NOW I see what you are referring to. Should have taken a better look! Yeah, I wouldn't put my wife on that for sure! Sorry if I took your original comment the wrong way. And thanks for the kudos, she's put 1500+ miles on it and loves it. I'll be fixing the swinger to be pretty AND functional this winter. Right now it's a bit..um...ugly.
HAHA I actually just sent him an email. Seems like it could be a deal, and its about a half hour away... Those duke parts would look neat on that ol smoker eh? =)
