I have on of those fork braces... it's completely useless even when installed at the "correct" height.

they were made back in the day for the cheasy methods(choppers) used to extend 33 mm forks and 35's by as much as 18" to hopefully put off the inevidable loss of control from lets say delayed input to front wheel ;D,and hence maybe delay a ticket punching event
used as they were meant to be,well above slider max travel ,they would obvuiosly do some good staving off at least some twist,.......
used in exactly the wrong manner not so much

An exercise in metal fatigue as the engineers call it

Mine look weird, there's a step in the pipe between lower and upper triple. Guess thats how frank did back then.

just a short section at reduced diameter ? if so it could be a turned true spot to run the steady rest on for machining purposes, this sometimes is the only way to go if the stock is too large to go through the lathe headstock

Well the last part of the fork, running up to the conical fitting in the upper yoke (1960's triumph) is maybe half a millimeter (19-20 thou?) smaller diameter than the lower part.
Had to shim the yoke with brass plate to get any grip at all up there.

It's brilliant, you can adjust it's height to reduce your fork travel in order to improve handling.

I have no idea if the price is reasonable or not, but I'll bet there are some of the Kawi guys on here who'd love to have this one:

seems quite reasonable, those things were pulling $25K plus a few years ago, that was stock with proper pipes and orig paint but even with that paint and seat it'd still pull $10k plus easy you'd think

Spotty, I believe you are referring to the earlier z1's The later models 75/76 aren't "technically" z1's in the crazed peoples eyes, so they won't go for nearly as much. With a great bunch of them being the KZ900 LTD models too :) I met a few of the enthusiasts this summer. Guy bought one for 7k not running, brought it to me and I fixed her up (carb clean and fork seals was all it needed) and he went on to sell that thing to someone else for 14k....why can't I find those deals!!! (well..it's because I buy $200 bikes...ha!)

How about a "real" vintage race bike?
Neat old race bike.
Has been a track bike for a long time.

Basic "barn find" condition right now.
Engine and everything turns over as it should.
Seems to have been stored very well.

350cc
Transmission gears swapped around for a better box/ratio
GT750 Water Buffalo front drum
Alloy wheels
CYB seat.
Kicker delete
HiPo Cam
Ported head
HiPo valves/springs
Few spares.

One exhaust has a crack(see pictures)

All and all it would be a great base for someone wanting to do some vintage racing, or an EPIC street bike.

I bought this a "package" to get something else I wanted.
Even convinced myself that I would try and put this back on the track myself. But I have to admit that my delusions of vintage racing are just pipe dreams and there are other things in my garage I would rather put the time and money into.

Would like $3750 for the bike, but very open to offers.

Evenflow baby bottle catch can is spot on! Ducati tank and minitrail top clamp for a rearset bracket... This is privateer racing at it's finest... Ole Sloppy?

Interesting bike. Looks like a 66 ie very late production run. Stock CB77 tank and footpeg mounts with pegs in the passenger positions. Race kit seat and megaphones, but stock carbs and brake cables that are so long they are dangerous and kinked. Nice breather hose connection in the filler cap hole. Tires are almost unused and the thing cannot have been ridden hard because the gear shift would have been ground down - they all hit the deck when cornering hard and yet the pipes are cracked and have been repaired multiple times which suggests that some of the parts may have been added after its track life.

What's the story on that one?
